Robert Strock explains how to upgrade emotionally by replacing self-criticism with appreciative observation. He offers a practical rule: ask if you can do anything about a self-critique, then act or let it go. The focus is on self-care and caring for the world.
Just imagine that you're upgrading yourself and instead of criticizing yourself, you're actually seeing what you don't like and you're really appreciative that you can see it and you're not a slave to it anymore. And when you're criticizing yourself, you need to ask, is this something I can do anything about? And if the answer is yes, you go for it, and if the answer is no, you tell it screw off. You aren't here to help me, you're here to hurt me. I want to develop caring for myself and the world because otherwise I'm not going to be fulfilled. I'm going to be empty. So I want to develop the caring and you develop that strength to have a yes to the caring and a no to the part of you that is writing yourself off when you can't do anything about it. Come join us on the webinar so we can go more deeply into this.
