LOVE & STRENGTH, Guided Meditation

A guided meditation for couples navigating conflict. You'll identify repeating patterns, name what each partner actually needs, and practice vulnerable requests with the right tone. Breathing and repeated invocations help you call on both love and strength to deepen connection.
Allow yourself to go right straight into the most challenging conflict, the most wounding situation that you have or have had with your lover or lovers of the past. And look for the one situation that repeats. It might be mutual anger. It might be one of you gets angry and the other one gets hurt. Perhaps you just get hurt and you don't share where you are, whatever your situation is. Notice where the other person is normally emotionally and where you are normally emotionally. Have the courage, the integrity, the emotional intelligence to feel the emotional nature of where you both are at the most difficult moments. Appreciate, maybe even savor, this precise awareness. I'm nasty and he or she is hostile, or I'm crying and he or she is teasing me, belittling me, condescending. Most important, your situation, be as lucid as possible. What is the emotional quality that you're in in there? And then ask yourself, how could I be bringing more of my heart, more of my love, more of my strength into this moment to bring healing? What would that sound like? What would that feel like? What would my intelligence tell me to say or not say? What's the quality? That's what most needed. Sometimes to be strong, you need to be gentle. That's the strongest place. Sometimes you need to be just the right pitch to be assertive enough to be taken seriously. And you need to call on tenderness and warmth because you or anyone doesn't respond well to just being criticized. Sometimes you might need to speak up when you normally are silent. But when you speak up, you need to find your heart strength. What is it that you're needing is one of the questions? Be lucid. Do you need to be understood? Do you need more tenderness? Do you need more presence? Do you need more affection? And be interested? What is the other need? Hold those needs together, have the strength and the heart and the love to look underneath the conflict, to look underneath the wounding, to see the needs that are there. And let your wisdom and your harmonic heart come in and bring the quality and tone of voice that needs to arise to convey the need that you have and assume enough goodwill to deepen your understanding of what the need is in your partner. So you may say, instead of being angry, I don't want to be angry anymore. Right now I just want to ask you if you could be tender with me, if you could just listen to this particular point. I want to offer to you a space to just listen to you, hear what your needs are. And while you're in this evolving way of accessing your strength and love, keep inquiring, keep praying. For strength and love. Come into me. Come into me. Come into me. Open your heart, breathe. Allow it to expand and then allow your intelligence and wisdom to find the words and the needs that are asking to be exposed for more love and strength to arise. Be specific and if you can't find the words, you can't find the tone. Don't give up. Keep asking words, tone needs. Please come into my consciousness. My life is about finding and living from my heart and my spirit strength so I can be fulfilled and I can help you be fulfilled. That's who I am. That's why I'm here. Yes, I have my wounds. Yes, you have your wounds. But we both know we're here to cultivate this essential quality of love and strength and strength in the most beautiful way. Because strength means optimizing the chance of meeting hearts with exactly the right vibration and words. Sa.
