Practicing Self Intimacy: Guided Meditation

A guided meditation that asks you to notice your biggest feeling right now, whether you hide it, and how to stay curious about yourself without judgment. The speaker calls this practice self-intimacy: staying connected to what's actually happening inside so you can show up more honestly.
So start off by just being generous with yourself by asking, what is the most significant feeling state that I'm in today now that warrants my attention? And allow yourself to just take great interest in what feeling state you're in without trying to change it at all. So take a few seconds and if you're the kind of person who has six feelings at once, narrow it down to one or two. If you're the kind of person that has no idea what you feel, then just gently ask, can I be in touch with one? And if the answer is no, be content with the fact that you're just confused as to what you feel. And recognize that this question, that this inquiry is a lifelong practice. It's an act of love towards yourself to be interested and curious as to what your present experience is and what your experience is that's most important for you in that given day. And as you continue to just breathe and take this caring interest in yourself, recognize that your feelings are going to be the best clues that you can possibly have to ultimately find out what it is that you need. And so be like a loving scientist, be like an explorer, where you're just content, one or two feelings at the most. And as you identify the central feeling state of where you are, notice if you present this feeling the same way on the outside to those around you as you feel it on the inside. And as you look at that tendency, don't be surprised if you might feel sad on the inside, and you might present it as happy on the outside. Or don't be surprised if you feel anxious on the inside and you are agitated on the outside. But just look for the dominant real inner experience of what you feel that's most prevalent for you today and now, and how you present that same you on the outside. And be appreciative that you have the interest to just be honest. And that if you can see what your inner experience is, you become united with your core. And if you can see the difference in how you present on the outside, you have a chance to ultimately decide if that's in your best interest. And as you're doing this, give yourself a suggestion. I want to do this for the rest of my life. I want to practice this self intimacy, this self curiosity, so I can have an authentic relationship to my inner life. And so I can also see if the way I'm presenting it to the world is in my highest and best interest and if it's also going to be something good for those around me. So just see yourself planting a seed. I do want to be in touch with my innermost experience as much as possible. I want to keep going here for the rest of my life. And I also want to see how I present myself on the outside so I have a chance to see if it's in the best interest of the way I really want to live.
