Using Inquiry to Awaken Wisdom | Awareness That Heals Chapter 5 Meditation #3

A guided meditation inviting you to access your inner wisdom through gentle questions like "What would be helpful?" The speaker asks you to notice moments when simple wisdom touched you, and to recognize its qualities: tenderness, strength, compassion, and the absence of judgment.
The Heartbeat of Wisdom let's take a few moments to glimpse the best wisdom that you've received during your life and reflect on what the qualities were when you heard those words. Let me repeat that. Let yourself take a look at what the heartfelt qualities were. When you have been most touched by the moments of simple wisdom in your life, you might have heard something like Be gentle with yourself. Have the courage to go for it. Let it go. I know this is hard for you. Or don't act out in anger. Find a better way. Don't focus on the content of the thoughts of wisdom, but look at the music. The essential qualities of ingrained in the wisdom itself, it may have included tenderness, strength, empathy, sincerity, or maybe just being trusted. This wisdom may come from a teacher friend book or maybe from your inner voice. Allow yourself to remember what qualities have most reached you during these times in your life as this clarity will help foster this quality of guiding wisdom in your future. It's important to recognize that genuine wisdom is never ever interested in judging you or anyone else for that matter. It's always neutral, supportive or strong in its tone and doesn't punish. It can be confused with judgment at times because both involve the mind. But real wisdom never wants to be negative and in reality is never negative. A bearer of and guided by truth, wisdom is as strong as needed and moves us towards what will bring us the least amount of suffering and the most peace, fulfillment and inspiration. Wisdom doesn't ever take sides since it's interested in everyone's well being. Does this make sense to you? Take a look inside again. Wisdom doesn't ever take sides since it's interested in everyone's well being. Can you discern the difference between wisdom and judgment? The contrast between compassionate guidance and a sort of stern morality? Can you sense this difference between tightness and ease? Healing tones and wisdom are irreplaceable partners. Wisdom is called for when you're facing suffering of any kind and you find a place that cares. This is a big deal to suffer and to care at the same time. Once you're in touch with us awareness, you can ask the question or inquiry what will the simple thoughts be that will guide me with what I'm facing? With patience and perseverance, you will eventually be led to your wisdom. This isn't trivial. It's rare to recognize that our mind can be our greatest ally. Making this discovery to find this place inside that cares for ourselves and those around us is the ultimate source of influence that we can have over our life, situations and emotions. How we think and what we think will determine so much of our ultimate fate and future. Can you see this? Your thoughts are the instruments of influence that can be magical or can be left impotent. Wisdom reminds us again and again that we can be the generators of either well being or suffering. We can even have more and more a sense of ourselves as being wisdom itself rather than identify with conditioned ideas and habitual patterns. When you're awake to wanting or allowing your own wisdom, you recognize my next thoughts matter. What would be helpful? What would take care of this situation I find myself in? When you're aware and you have space, why would I guide myself in any other direction? Listen to the intelligence in your heart that wants to help. Be as tender and strong as is being called for. Again. Ask what message will support this moment. Recognize that the emphasis for wisdom is almost always in the present or the very near future. Continue to ask for this guidance and let go of thinking in negative or limited ways. See if you can let yourself enjoy being receptive to asking for what you need. Look for the current guiding thought, action or quality. And regardless of what comes or doesn't come, see if you can appreciate that you are looking. Let yourself be in the present and stay open to spontaneity. Ask yourself again and again what is my guiding suggestion? See if you can enjoy the unity, wisdom and your caring plant seeds to remember that this wisdom is available when you ask sincerely from your heart and are devoted. Sam.
