In this interview segment, Deepa, a 46‑year‑old long‑term asthma patient, recounts her decades of inhaler reliance that began in her teens. Chronic steroid inhaler use led to severe side effects, including bilateral steroid‑induced cataracts requiring permanent lens implants and a pre‑diabetic condition. Although she had practiced yoga, pranayama, and stretches for years, she did not experience relief until she adopted a specific sequence of stretches and pranayama techniques designed by Badrinath Gella for asthmatics. Following this tailored regimen, Deepa achieved a full week without needing her inhaler, even while traveling to varied climates such as Amritsar and Dharamshala. She expresses profound gratitude for the program, highlighting its impact on her breathing confidence and overall health.
So I've been doing yoga for a long time, pranayams and stretches, but somehow it was not the way how you are dealing with, where one week without inhaler, I can't imagine, you know, the day with this. So I feel so happy that, okay, I can, you know, otherwise anywhere I go I have this inhaler with me. Hello.
Yes, yes.
Hi, I've been using inhaler from like my, I think from my teenage. I'm 40. 6 now, and every day, or like maybe leave 2 or 3 days, but I'm be using it. And the after effect of using the inhaler is I had to have an early cataract. So both my eyes, I had to put a permanent lens for it. So that was a steroid-induced cataract which happened, and I knew that the steroids is going to have bad effect on my health. So is going away slowly, and I have like pre-diabetic stage also now. So I've been doing yoga for a long time, pranayams and stretches, but somehow it was not the way how you are dealing with the stretches in the beginning and then doing the pranayam. I think that change is what is giving me the result right now. And I really feel grateful that somehow I got you and your teachings, where one week without inhaler, I can't imagine the day with this. So I feel so happy that, okay, I can. Otherwise, anywhere I go, I have this inhaler with me. If my client steps, I should have this. Anytime I may go breathless. So that has become like— I'm feeling so happy from inside that One week I didn't use this, and last one week I was traveling. I had gone to Amritsar, Dharamshala with my school trip, and I thought change in climate, all this will aggravate, but nothing touch wood happened. And every day I was doing the stretches, though I couldn't do it in the class, but I did that. And I feel so grateful and thankful for you to come up with such a package of, you know, stretches and pranayams together just for the asthmatic people. Thank you so much.
Great, great, great. Thank you so much, Deepa. Like, it's so inspiring.
