I Lost Myself, Until Breath Brought Me Back - The story of Mamta S.

Mamta S. was bedridden by perimenopause, acid reflux, sleep apnea, and steroid dependence until she found breathing exercises through the Conscious Breathing Hub. What were the challenges? What were you going through before CBH?
But 2021, when I started with the— all of a sudden I got pre-menopause issue. This led to many things, name the disease, from acidity to my IBS to— and I did all the medication. I did homeopathy, I did allopathy because hormone imbalance was happening. I took the medicine, I developed many symptoms, my bones, low calcium, low iron, my lung infection. The moment I used to sleep, I used to have that breathing obstruction, and then I used to all of a sudden get up. Because I cannot say in words how much my life has changed, but that day really there's something shifted because that day after doing it, I felt much better. Yeah, after 2 weeks I did retreat, and after 2 weeks I did Diamond. Yeah, so my journey after 2, within a month it went to a lifetime membership for Hemoglobin for B12, for calcium, for this, that steroid inhalers I had.
So all of them you have stopped within 1 month?
Yes, within 1 month. Diamond membership has given me a very, very good stamina and even mind strength. I just did whatever has to be done, just consistently, and I'm very happy that I'm able to do Surya Namaskar. I started with a very, very difficult health challenges and I overcame it.
Sometimes life pushes us so low that even the simplest things— walking for 5 minutes, sleeping peacefully, or breathing freely— feel impossible. Our next guest, Mamta, faced this reality not long ago with severe gut issues, breathlessness, sleep apnea, joint pain, and the struggles of her premenopause, she had to step away from her career. Dependent on steroids, inhalers, and drained of energy, she reached a point where her body simply said, "No more." But her story didn't end there. In February 2025, Mamta joined the Conscious Breathing Hub, and since then, she has shed 9 kilos of weight, said goodbye to her steroid inhalers, overcome her sleep apnea, regained her energy, and most importantly, reclaimed her career and her life. Today, not only she's thriving again, but she's also serving as our community manager, inspiring and guiding others on their own journeys. This is not just a story of healing, but of rising. Let's welcome Mamta. Namaste, namaste, Mamta. Thank you so much for coming to this Swadharma podcast.
Namaste, sir.
So, Mamta, like, you have been one of our active members. You have implemented whatever I have taught you. So could you please tell me what were the challenges? What were you going through before CBH?
Before CBH, there's a lot to say. Life was going on fantastic till 2021. I had a good career. I was managing home, family, kids. I have twins. But 2021, when I started with the— all of a sudden I got pre-menopause issue. Many things changed after that, and that too suddenly and drastically. And something where I didn't get any support of like any guidance, what to do, where to go. I used to, I did so much of searching in Google, what is happening to me. I could not understand what is happening. I could not understand where to go. I could not discuss with many of my people because the moment I tell them, they will be tensed. If I tell to my mother, she'll be tensed. Then instead of my issue, I have to handle her tension. So there was less people whom I could share. Only my immediate family members knew because they saw me suffering. So this led to many things, uh, name the disease, from acidity to my IBS to— and I did all the medication. I did homeopathy, I did allopathy because hormone imbalance that was happening. I took the medicine. After that, the doctor said there is no more hormone medicines that I can give you. I have given you the highest dosage. So now then I have to go. So, but then I'm bad because my kids, uh, 11th, 12th, uh, this was going on. So if I do any surgery, anything, their studies will hamper. I thought let them finish 12th. Till that time I'll go along with the homeopathy. But then this pull maybe, uh, had a drastic effect on my body. So I developed many symptoms. My bones, calcium, low calcium, low iron, so, uh, my lung infection, then, uh, low B12. So name the disease, everything I had. So, uh, this happened, kids' admission was done, then they were in their colleges, I was all alone. So by that time, I think, uh, then slowly, uh, my health started deteriorating more. I shifted to Pune from Bombay, didn't have any doctors nearby to go. I didn't even know where to go. So, uh, in that time, uh, by that time what happened is I could not then concentrate on my career. My career also got backstage. So, uh, what I did was now I was at home, so I had a mental agony also because I had health challenges. And then gradually my lung infection started. I went to a doctor, took the X-rays, they said, they gave the medications, nothing happened. Then one fine day I had a very big problem. I started getting the sleep apnea. That was my, like, that was something when, uh, where I could not do anything about it because all my this problems got amplified because I could not even get sleep at night. And that too, sleep obstruction. The moment I used to sleep, I used to have that breathing obstruction, and then I used to all of a sudden get up. Now what to do? I also, I sometimes I used to just sit. I did know some pranayams and all because my kids were doing it, but little bit it was working, but probably I didn't have the structure. So it didn't work for me. I did try. I went to pulmonologist, he gave me an inhaler, then it worked for some time, then again it didn't work, then he gave me a higher dosage. All this happened. So this was all my story just before I joined CPH.
Because of that, you have to leave your job as well, right?
Yes, I had to quit my job. Even when I shifted to Pune, by God's grace, my old organization, they opened a new branch in Pune and they called me, but because of my health reasons, I could not go. I did join them for 6 months, but then I had to quit because I have to travel till camp, Pune camp. It was 2 hours one way, and the health challenges did not let me do it, so I had to quit.
So sleep apnea and perimenopause stage, actually, like, people did not have any guidance properly, right?
Yeah.
So, and also sleep apnea is a very, very dangerous problem that many people even doesn't know that they have sleep apnea, right? Right. So what did you do? Like, how did you find us? Or like, um, so how did you get to know about CVH?
Yeah, actually sleep apnea also I think I developed much earlier. I too did not understand because I used to wake up many number of times. Only when that obstruction came, that time I understood that something is happening. Then I did a Google search, then I understood that something called sleep apnea existed and this is what is happening to me. Now during that time, my daughter, she told me 2-3 times, she told me that she is getting your workshop advertisements. I said, yeah, you also must be doing Google search, so that's why that advertisement is coming. So that's okay, you can ignore.
Yeah.
So then she said, Mommy, it is coming so many times, I'll register, it's only ₹99. I said, no, no needed, because I'm going to so many doctors, nothing is happening, so why spend ₹99 extra? So then she registered and said, Mommy, I already registered. I said, why? So she said, it's ₹99 only, you just attend, what you have to do at home, sit at home and do. So you're free, right? Yeah, just because she paid ₹99 and I didn't want it to waste. Okay, I was so concerned about the ₹99, so I said, I'll attend. Then I said, now first time attending something like this online workshop. First, like doing something online was something out of— it's something that doesn't sink into us. Okay, offline yoga and all that is something what we know. So Then I told my husband, I have to do this and I'm feeling very bored, I don't know what it is, so can you also join? So he was also free, he was doing work from home, he said, chalo, we'll join. I did join that day, but that day really there's something shifted because that day after doing it, I felt much better. I was doing that Anulom Vinayam, I was doing it because I was not able to sleep, that's why I was doing some breathing exercise. But that day I really felt better, and that night I took a risk of not taking the inhaler. I just kept it beside me. If I need, I'll take it. So I could sleep. I could sleep for 3 hours, and I really felt better. I was very sure that I'll be taking this course, whatever it is. So next day, day 2 happened. You told take silver membership, so we took. So my daughter was like, Mommy, you took 7,000, you paid. It's an online thing. Do you know it is? Because what I do is I tell them this online things Even if they tell me something, I'll say, wait, first we will check their reviews, we'll check their site. So then, did you check their site? No. Did you check their review? I said no. And you paid ₹7,000. What if they are fraud? Let's see. By God's grace, I got something. I got a positive result. If it is fraud, I'll say I paid ₹7,000, donation somewhere. If it is good, it's good. So I said fine. So that's how I landed into CPH.
So what changes have you seen? Is it worth the ₹7,000 investment or like whatever investment you have made?
I didn't make ₹7,000. After 2 weeks I did BHC.
Yeah, you upgraded yourself.
Yeah, after 2 weeks I did Retreat and after 2 weeks I did Diamond. Yeah, so my journey after 2, within a month it went to a Lifetime Membership and my kids were like, Mommy, this is the last one or do you have any more course they have? I said no, this is the final one. So they were happy that mommy is not going to spend more. So she said, mommy, you were scolding me for 99 rupees and now you're spending lakhs of rupees.
What inspired? So from Silver to BHC, like first of all, like first few weeks.
Yeah, I had a very drastic change in my life because I was always self-driven, but I didn't have a guidance. I didn't know what to do, how to do. If I knew all this even in 2021, I would have taken it. I do not require any inspiration. I was always self-inspired person, and but I got that guidance from you and from CBH, for which I'll be always grateful. Because I cannot say in words how much my life has changed. From not able to speak 2 sentences, I remember that was my birthday week also, I was just doing action and speaking, I was not able to speak. And I have a habit of talking too much at home. I am the one who talks, and I was not able to talk, and they were feeling bad. And that's the reason she was behind that workshop. When this workshop worked, I started with the Silver membership. I wholeheartedly did it. Morning Lung Fitness Challenge, 11 o'clock. Again I did 4:30. Again I practiced the same thing, and then Prana Healing session every day. From the recording, all I did for that 2 months. And when I got that BHC, and I was a teacher, so BHC, the teacher training thing inspired me. It's something good. Even if I'm not going to teach anyone, I want to learn from the perspective where it is. I, as a teacher, I know what you learn as a student view or what you learn as a teacher's point of view is different. So I wanted to learn that. That was the reason I joined for BHC. So I wholeheartedly did all the courses. I used to go to gym also after doing all this 4 times. I used to go to gym 45 minutes and there I used to play all those BHC recordings that you have, that you have taken those camps and all. So all that I used to listen and I used to do that. All the sessions I used to record, your Wednesday sessions and takeaways I used to sit and write. I used to take 3-4 hours and I used to The whole day I used to spend in this. So that 2 months I wholeheartedly did this, and I really came out of it very soon. Within a month I was out of all the medications.
Wow, that's awesome! So what are the medications, can you tell us? Like, so what are— what were your— the medications you were using?
Yeah, for hemoglobin, for B12, for calcium, for this— that steroid inhalers I had. This much only.
So all of them you have stopped within 1 month?
Yes, within 1 month. Steroids I stopped within 1 week only.
Wow.
Because I— now I was getting— even if I was getting 3 hours sleep, steroids was not giving me more than 3 hours sleep even if I'm using it. So that if I—
so how long did you try? How long did you try your medication, hospitals and all?
Uh, steroids I tried for 3 months before coming to CBH, and after 1 week I quit.
Other medication, since how long have been?
Uh, that is for 3-4 years.
3-4 years.
From 2021, my medicines were there. And all this I had, this was allopathy also, and I had homeopathy also.
Okay, both the medicine.
Yeah, both I was doing it. So I had a whole tray, so many medicines were there.
Okay.
And morning I used to get up and I would see now which medicine I have to take.
Yeah.
So it was like that because you have to give a gap when you're taking homeopathic and when you're taking allopathy. So you have to give a gap. So that was also driving me crazy and I wanted to get out of it desperately. And that desperation I used in my recovery.
Yeah, super, super inspiring, Mamta. Super inspiring, Mamta. And can you tell me like then what inspired you to move to Diamond Membership then?
I thought this is giving me result. And when I came to Arohan also, I came to know about this Diamond Morning, you take the yoga sessions and all. So I thought it's a good thing, and I got a lifetime Diamond membership. So I wanted to work on my health, and this time permanently, so that I don't again go back to it. So Lung Fitness Challenge, I have done it. I could have done it 1 or 2 times more, that is not a problem. But I want to do— I wanted to take my health into a different level, and that I got it from Diamond. And frankly, after joining Diamond, The morning sessions that you take, that made my body so flexible. Like, I remember, like, when I started with Lung Fitness Challenge, I could not even fold my legs and sit. I could never fold my legs and sit. I used to sit in the chair only, and, and in the bed also I sat and I did the first Lung Fitness Challenge. Sitting down, though, it's out of question. So now I can sit in Sukhasana, even Vajrasana. You told initially Vajrasana is good after, after you eat food, you should sit in Vajrasana. So what I did is, now sitting on the floor, not possible. So I tried on the bed. I used to sit for half minute, 1 minute. That's how I started practicing it. It used to pain initially, but gradually I came out of it.
Oh, very good. So that, like, whatever the results you got in Silver inspired you to move to the Diamond?
Yeah.
And so after coming to Diamond, how your life has changed?
After coming to Diamond, my life For now, last 2 months back, I went to my native place. I could play, what do you say, disc with the children. So like my cousins and all, they could not do it because you have to many times you have to bend. So I could very nicely play with them and they were very happy. And they knew me prior also, so they saw that change. And even that walking for 2 kilometers, the beach was nearby. We walked for 2 kilometers and I was the only one who could walk without getting tired. So body flexibility, stamina, everything has increased. Diamond membership has given me a very, very good stamina and even mind strength.
And what about the community members, Diamond?
They inspired me a lot from day one. Even if I was writing takeaways after doing and all that, because I have seen people writing takeaways, so I didn't know how to write a takeaway. So I saw how they are writing takeaways, so I used to refer all to their previous 3-4 months' messages, what they are writing. So then I used to, okay, this is how they write. So then I started developing it. And not only that, expressing. I never expressed my problems to anyone. My problems I never discussed with anyone till I came to CBH.
Okay.
Not even my mother. Only my kids and my family members know because they are seeing me suffering. My kids, before going to college, they had one condition. Mommy, when I'm going, we are going to college, you are going to tell everything what is happening in you. To you in the, in the day. Not that because we are in the college now you are not going to tell us. So that was their call, but that expressing you taught, okay, how to tell your problems. I never, I never told my problems to anyone, to my whole family.
Yeah, you even mentioned that you lost 8 kgs.
Yeah, right.
So how did that happen?
Like, when I joined, I got to know that sleep apnea is also connected to the, uh, weight that you used to tell in the class. So I had that mind, maybe I'm 69 kg, so maybe that can also cause, apart from all the other issues. So my target that time only, it was, I want to get into 55. So I told my first target is less than 65, then less than 60. So I started working towards it. Your morning sessions were there, then I had my 45 minutes gym I used to do. I worked till 51, I did it. Means I kept a count on it. Then I stopped. I said, fine, it's happening. But then recently I saw it is less than 50 also, it's 49.
Wow! Wow!
So I just kept my practices steady. I just did whatever has to be done, just consistently followed whatever practices you are saying. Like in that BHC, when you are giving the assignment, do it for— observe, give that observation for 3 days, 5 days. I used to do it. And I used to write it. So I did all that what has to be done.
About nutrition also?
Nutrition also I followed. First 2 months I followed, then I didn't follow. But then it gave me a very positive effect with all this.
Exactly, exactly. Even all the parameters like B12?
Yeah, yeah.
Bone density, which you are saying? Yeah. You're seeing improvements in all of those?
Yes. Now I can see, I do have a little bit of spondylitis now also. It may not have gone 100%, But it is at least 75% better.
Yeah.
And now I'm even sitting in computer laptop for a longer time, so I'll obviously have a little bit of that stiffness. But in spite of that, it is 75% better than what I had. And I'm doing all my asanas on mat. I can sit even folded legs, so I can sit now. And maybe not on the higher order, but many things I have achieved in that from where I was started. So my next target would be, yeah, Padmasana is something that I would like to try, which I could never And I'm very happy that I'm able to do Surya Namaskar. Because I always insisted that to my children. They do it every Sunday. And because I did not know Surya Namaskar, so I searched from internet. I told them it's very good to do on Sunday. And from there I taught them using those pictures. This is the steps and you do. And whenever they used to do, I always had a feeling that I am not able to do. Then I used to feel bad. So what I used to do is I used to go take this tumbler, water the plants, and say Surya Namaha. And I cannot do Surya Namaskar, but I am doing Namaskar like this. I used to always say, but now I am able to do, so I'm happy about it.
Awesome. So what changes have you seen in your relationships? And so whatever the way you think and whatever the way you act now, everything is fine, nothing much, because I have always been positive.
I have always been positive. I was slow because I was slow in the sense that I used— I felt that I may not survive. Yeah, that was the only thing. I didn't have— yeah, maybe sometimes you get irritated because if you have low health, then you may be irritated. Otherwise, things were fine. I could handle all the other things perfectly.
Got it. Yeah, so I want to ask one of the most important questions. And what inspired you to join the CBH? Now you've been— you attended the workshop, you went through our Silver membership, and you went to BHC, you went to Diamond. And what inspired you to be part of this mission?
One day in the session, I remember somebody asked you whether you have any vacancy, and if something is there, so I can— I am ready to join. So you said, yeah, we would like to take anybody from the community. So you can send the resume. Whenever there is vacancy, we can get back. So something came within. I said, okay, I should send a resume. What's wrong in sending the resume? Whether or not you're getting, it's fine. So I sent the resume. I didn't expect anything. I didn't expect any others because I did have an experience, but then there was a gap. And offline and online platform is totally different, which I understand. So I was not sure whether I will be able to really do justice here. So I just sent a resume. I said, if you people think it's right, you may approach. Then after, I think 2 months after that, I got a call. It's there, vacancy is there.
So, Mamta, I want to ask you one more important question. So what really inspired you or made you to be part of our mission and join our community and as a community manager?
I have got a lot from this community. I started with the very, very difficult health challenges and I overcame it. So when I got an opportunity from your end to join the community. I thought it's one good— I didn't expect when I applied, I surely didn't expect any, uh, this. But when I got an opportunity, I thought I should give back to this community. So with that intention only, I joined. At that time, I was not sure whether I'll be able to do justice. I was not sure whether I'll be able to learn all those things because of the gap what I had in my career. I was not confident, key, again I will be taking, because I know the work has got many stress, many challenges, and I just have overcome my health challenges. So whether I'll be able to take so much of responsibility and do proper justice, I was not sure. I said it has come because I always believed whatever is coming, okay, that's from God's hand, and I should accept it with 100% dedication. So I thought it has come from— I didn't make any effort for it, it has come. So let me put my 100% And maybe it's a giveback to whatever I have achieved from the CBH, because starting from my— starting from the journey, I have received much. So you always say you should also give what you get. So that's what I implemented.
Wow, thank you. Thank you so much for being part of our mission and helping our community members.
Actually, thank you to you and the CBH for accepting me in this role. Because I learned a lot.
Thank you. So now tell me, like, exactly after entering into CBH— so before, you have been trying so many things. You have tried, uh, like allopathy, you have tried homeopathy, you might be going to temples and asking, uh, for the results.
My home temple.
Yeah, maybe like you're praying to the god that you want, like, something like to help you, right? What are the things you have implemented that really brought you the change?
I implemented everything that was told in CBH. From the schedule that you asked us to do, lung fitness and prana healing, to the habit tracker, posting that every week, the habit trackers, to all the practices that has been told to do. Sometimes you say, do it deep breathing, you should do before eating, that you said. All that I have implemented. And LFC as well as Prana Healing system. LFC, Prana Healing, without a single break. I did never take break, and that 2 months I didn't go anywhere. Because if I go anywhere, there will be a break. The only break I took was my native place. After 3 or 4 months, I went to native place. That's the only break I took. And that also I put a mail to you, sir, I'm not there for 2 days because I'm going to take a break. Otherwise, I followed everything. Habit trackers to affirmations, everything I followed. I implemented everything.
Very good, very good. What do you see, like, what is the difference do you see in CBH and other communities, or like other places wherever you have gone for classes or whatever you have learned?
I have not much gone to anywhere. I have not learned anywhere, but I once, I have done that gotra. Yeah, one session, one session I had done. That was also around 2021 only when I was having, but that was more of a yoga. What I felt here was more of a breathing, and that could connect more because, uh, uh, the most of your things you can sit and do, especially when you are, when you are having a lot of health challenges, uh, doing yoga becomes difficult unless you overcome it. So I felt this was much better.
When you're saying yoga, it's asanas.
Yeah, yeah, those, yeah, movement asanas.
This was more of a breathing.
Yeah, so you are unable to do the all the movements.
So It's breathing, it's very simple.
Yeah, especially when you have lots of health challenges, when you are not able to breathe properly, you have gut issues, then that time initially to start directly with yoga becomes difficult. Only if you do this breathing practice and something eases out, then you can go for these asanas and all. So that was helping. And even the lung fitness challenge that we start with, initial ones are very simple ones. So that also can, that also helps us. So the structure that you are provided in CBH is very, very nice, and it gradually progresses from the lower one to the highest order. Both is, it is scattered.
So now you cured your sleep apnea?
Yes.
100%? Awesome. And acidity also?
Acidity, yeah.
Wow, very good. So what is the message you would like to share with people, whoever is watching, or even to the community members, or who took our course and not taken any action. So what is the message like from your life and what you have gone through in your life? So what is— what would you like to share?
One thing that I always believe: God helps those who help themselves. You have to first believe and be consistent and follow, follow the process, because unless you are not consistent and dedicated Accepting results from anything is impossible.
True.
And if your dedication is strong, no one can stop from getting the results. That is true.
Absolutely. Thank you, thank you so much, Mamta, for inspiring all of us, and thank you for taking your time. Namaste.
Thank you.
