In this instructional video, Badrinath Gella, founder of the Conscious Breathing Hub, explains the fundamentals of pranayama, the fourth limb of Patanjali's Ashtanga Yoga, describing it as the regulation of prana—the vital life energy present in all living things. He outlines the concept of 72,000 nadis that emanate from the navel, focusing on the three primary channels: Ida (left/moon), Pingala (right/sun), and Sushumna, whose activation relates to Kundalini energy. Gella details a complete breath cycle consisting of inhalation, retention, exhalation, and suspension, and specifies the muscular groups engaged during each phase, including clavicular, thoracic, diaphragmatic, and abdominal muscles. He emphasizes the holistic health benefits of regular pranayama practice—stress reduction, mood improvement, mental calmness, and mitigation of lifestyle‑related diseases—by delivering prana to every cell in the body. The video concludes with a call to join his Conscious Breathing Hub and standard YouTube engagement prompts.

Namaste. Day by day, the pranayama is getting more popular. But do you know what is pranayama? In this video, I am going to share you what is pranayama, what are those 72,000 nadis which carries our energy, and what is— what are the benefits of pranayama, what is one breathing cycle, what is one breathing cycle means. And also I am going to discuss you what are the muscles you are going to engage when you are breathing. Let's get in. Hi, my name is Badrinath Gella. I am the founder of Conscious Breathing Hub, where all the like-minded people join together to work on their breathing, to work on their respiratory system, and overall health. If you would like to join our Conscious Breathing Hub, do not hesitate to contact us. The first one is, what is pranayama? The pranayama is the fourth limb of Patanjali's Ashtanga Yoga. Yama, Niyama, Asana. Fourth one is Pranayama. The word Pranayama means the Prana is the vital energy or biological energy. Ayama means regulation. The regulation of biological energy is known as Pranayama. The Prana exists everywhere. Prana is there in all the trees, plants, all the animals. That is why they are living on this planet. For example, consider there is a dead body here. We say he or she passed away, but what is passed away? The prana, the life force, is passed away. Without that life, there is no use of this body. The breathing is a tool to carry the pranayama. Breath or the air is not prana. There is a prana inside the air. There is an energy, the vital energy inside the air which reaches to our body and regulates in our body. That is called pranayama. Second one is 72,000 nadis. These 72,000 nadis branch out from your navel region and reaches every cell of your body. These all branched out into 3 sectors like Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna. Ida and Pingala is a left and right nostril, which is also known as moon and sun. One represents the heat, one represents the cool. When you balance these two, Ida and Pingala nadis, the Sushumna nadi will get activated, which, which is also known as Kundalini energy, which is more popular across the world. So the Kundalini energy gets activated by balancing our Ida nadi and Pingala nadi. The third one is one breath cycle. As per yogic sciences, the one breath cycle involves inhalation, holding, holding the breath, exhalation, and suspending the breath. So this is one cycle of the breathing. You have to inhale, hold, exhale, and suspend. This is one cycle of the breath. The fourth one. So what are the things you are engaging in one cycle of the breath? When you are inhaling, the air, the breath reaches to your clavicular region, your lungs, your thoracic region, as well as your abdominal and diaphragmatic region where you are engaging your diaphragm muscle. Your lungs are getting expanded, diaphragm is going down and your belly is coming out. So you are engaging your clavicular muscles, you are engaging your rib cage, you are engaging all your thoracic muscles, and you are engaging all your abdominal muscles. In case if you are not engaging these muscles, you are breathing wrongly. With one breath, you are engaging all these systems. The fifth one is the benefits. Especially the pranayama works on all the systems of our body. Reduces our stress, improves our mood, calms our mind. The prana, the vital energy, reaches to every cell of your body. You know, we all made up with 30 to 40 trillion cells. When you are breathing, when you are taking pranayama, when you are regulating your energy, it reaches to every cell of our body. You know, today, all the diseases, or majority of the diseases, are lifestyle diseases. Yogic sciences says 80% of our diseases rooted through the stress and through your mind. Through the pranayama practices, it calms your mind, it reduces your stress, helps you to reduce the root cause of the problem. That is the reason you have to practice pranayama, integrate into your lifestyle. I hope this video has given you lot of information what is pranayama.
