Do You Feel Stuck?

A short motivational/spiritual talk by Betsy Guerra explaining how to stop feeling stuck by "living a guided life": consenting to God's presence (metaphorically "turning on the GPS"), declaring your desired destination (peace, joy, success), waiting for and following divine directions, and surrendering when God "recalculates"—illustrated with a speaking-engagement anecdote that led to a U-turn and eventual peace.

Do you feel stuck or lost? You've lost your weight? I have the solution for you. You are going to start living from now on a guided life. And what do I mean by a guided life? Imagine that God or your higher power is a gps. In order to be able to use a gps, you need to turn it on. So you need to turn on God by consenting to the presence and act action within you. His presence and action within you. And you do that through prayer. You do that by invoking him. You do that however you want. The point is that you tell him like, hey God, I'm opening up the door for you. That's you turning on the gps. And then you enter the destination and you tell him, God, I want peace, I want joy, I want success. Like I want to arrive at where? What do you want? Wholeheartedly, you tell me. You enter the destination and then you wait. And that's the annoying part. Especially for those of you who are like, I was a control freak. I am a recovering control freak. Hello, my name is Betty and I'm a recovering control freak. But no more, because now I live a guided life and you have the opportunity to do the same. So you turn on the GPS by consenting to God's presence and action within you. Then you enter your destination and you tell him what you want from the bottom of your heart. And then you wait for directions and he tells you, turn left or call this person. Practice your affirmations. Hire someone. Talk to this person that loves you and wants the best for you. Like, you wait for guidance, then you follow those guidance. But whenever you've done everything that you think is in your power to do, to make, to get to your destination, if you realize that you're still not getting there and you find yourself in a dead end, then you listen to the recalculating. Make a U turn. The other day I had a plan as to how my speaking engagement was going to go. I thought it was brilliant what I came up with. And I kept engaging in obstacles and obstacles and obstacles and dead ends and dead ends. And nothing was working my way and I was not being able to receive that presentation no matter the efforts. And I was like, oh my gosh, this is tomorrow and I need to do this. And I realized that the presentation I have prepared for my audience wasn't the one that God wanted me to present. And it took some surrendering to those recalculations. And I almost felt like God was telling me, like, don't be so hard headed, recalculating make a U turn. We're not doing it. We're not getting there the way you want to get there. And it wasn't until I surrendered, I made the U turn, that I was able to, number one, find peace before even knowing that it was going to be a success. But number two, understanding that God's plans are always better than your own. And if you're struggling right now and he's recalculating and rerouting you is because what's to come is absolutely amazing.
