Get Rid Of Limitations For Good

This is a short motivational YouTube talk by Betsy Guerra ("Get Rid Of Limitations For Good"). Guerra presents a simple cognitive-action model — "thoughts create feelings, feelings create actions, actions create events and opportunities" — and urges listeners to focus on desired outcomes rather than obstacles. She opens with a Simon Sinek bagel anecdote to illustrate attention choices, then shares a personal testimony about grieving her daughter and recovering through hope, service, and gratitude. The video closes with a viewer call-to-action (like/subscribe, visit betterwithbetsy.com).

Today we're going to talk about how to get rid of limitations for good. I once heard a speech by Simon Sinek in which he shared that he had run a 5K in Central park in New York. And when he came to the finish line, there was a kiosk with free bagels. So he goes to his friend, look, buddy, free bagels. And the friend goes like, look at the line. There's a long line to get that. And Simon Sinek is like, free bagels. And he's like, no, but look at the line. It's too much. Too much weight. And he was like, oh, come on, free bagels. How do you not want those? And he said, what kind of person are you? The person that focuses on what you want? Free bagel. Or the person that focuses on what prevents you from getting what you want? The long line. We may think we're the people that focus on what we want, but all too often we're only looking at the limitation that's preventing us from getting it. So today, I am going to teach you how to focus on what you want and not let the thing preventing you from it become the focus. The first thing you need to know is that your thoughts create feelings. Your thoughts, when you think something creates, you are telling your subconscious mind how to feel. The subconscious mind is in charge of creating those emotions. So your thoughts create feelings, your feelings create actions. So if you feel a certain way, you're most likely or more prone to act a certain way. And then your actions create events, opportunities, thoughts create feelings, feelings create actions, actions create events and opportunities. And very often we are focused on creating the right opportunity or finding the event that's going to allow us to succeed or accomplish the goal that we want, not realizing that we don't have to wait for that. If we focus on creating thoughts that are aligned with that outcome, that's the beginning. That's the beginning of your accomplishment, because you will create all the opportunities to be able to take yourself there. So, for example, if I want to overcome pain and I want to overcome a challenge that I'm experiencing right now, but I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. And trust me when I tell you, I understand that wholeheartedly. When I lost my daughter, I could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. I couldn't imagine myself smiling again. And I remember thinking, at some point, I want to be happy again. I will be happy again. I will be the kind of parent that loses a child and finds joy again because I will Honor her through service, gratitude, and by continuing her legacy, I will keep her memory alive. And I will not feel like a grieving mom. I thought that at some point, but I didn't know how I was going to do that. There was a long line to get there. It was impossible, it seemed. But my thought created feelings, feelings of hope. And that hope allowed me to persevere, to smile here and there, to have okay days, to cry less than an hour a day. And slowly but surely, I created feelings of joy. When I thought about my daughter and when I would. There were times that I would think about her or see a sign that reminded me of her like rainbows, or listen to a wind chime and think it was her, like, talking to me. And I would smile instead of cry. So my thoughts, my wholehearted desire to be happy created feelings of joy. They didn't come overnight, and they were less times than I. I wanted them to be. But today, I am the happiest woman on earth. And I do have moments in which I cry and I feel and I'm sad. But for the most part, I am full of joy. My thoughts created feelings of joy. My feelings created actions. So I got out of bed. When I wanted to remain there, I stopped crying and got it back together. When I wanted to show up for my family and appreciate and be there for my other children and my husband, I acted in ways that allowed me to stand up from the hole that I was in, to get out. And those actions led into opportunities. Today, I have the opportunity, the blessing of bringing you hope, of being a testament of hope for the people that I serve. Because I didn't just study hope. I didn't go to school to study hope. I lived it. I know what it feels like to be in pain, and I know what it feels like to get out of it, even when you have no idea of how you're going to accomplish that. So if you want to focus on your goal, your mission, rather than the limitations that prevent you from getting there, you create thoughts that will create the feelings that you want. And those feelings will create the actions that are going to lead you to the opportunities, to the accomplishments, and to your greatness.
