A YouTube testimonial video (Teen Leadership Bootcamp) created/uploaded by Betsy Guerra that presents short first-person accounts from teen participants. Speakers describe personal growth: overcoming anxiety and shyness (via a taught "five-second rule" counting method), forming friendships, developing trust with Betsy, and transforming a group of strangers into a close-knit, family-like community.

I was this, like, really anxious, shy little person. And Betsy basically taught me this thing called the five second rule, which what you do is you count down from five. So if I was anxious about something or like going up to someone or talking to someone, I would just go, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. And on one, I would just do it. And it was crazy because I. I would be so fearful before I did it and while I was counting down. But it's like an instinct once you get to one, I just went. And it's helped me so much. Cause I use it for everything that I do now.
I went into Betsy's thing not really knowing what it was about, actually. My mom forced me into it. Couldn't get out. But so I had the same mentality that, like some other people did, that, oh, it's just me wasting my time. But as I got into it, more and more and more sessions, I liked him more, grew to get more friends, got close with people like Betsy. And Betsy just helped me express my feelings in just a really positive way.
People, when they first join this, they come as strangers, not knowing about anything or anyone. And they leave here as family, knowing everything about that person and just wanting to hang out with them and just spend time with them.
