Betsy Guerra explains how separation from God creates a metaphorical gap where brokenness enters: depression, anxiety, unforgiveness, and resentment fall through the crack like a mountain split in half. These unholy elements contrast with a person's essential greatness and holiness.

There may be a little bit of a problem because if you're separated from the source of perfection and goodness, there's room for problems. There's room for adversities. There's room for unpleasant emotions. There's room for the enemy. There's a gap. Think of, like, you being on top of a mountain, and then that mountain, like, breaks up in half, and you stayed in one part and God stayed in the other part of the mountain. And because you're separated and there's a gap, then things can fall fall in through there. So that's where mental health issues emerge— depression, anxiety, fear. That's where relationship issues, unforgiveness, resentment accumulate. Those things that are not holy and that are not part of your essence and your greatness, they fall in that hole, in that gap, in that crack.
