What Betsy's Husband Had To Say About Her

Betsy Guerra's husband speaks about her marathon finish, public speaking, founding Better with Betsy, and writing her book Precious. He traces these achievements back to grief, including speaking publicly three days after losing Fofi, and thanks the community that supported them both.

I'm such a gentleman guy. Betsy asked me to come talk, and I asked her, well, what do you want me to do? She goes, just introduce him. And Betsy, I should introduce myself. Everybody knows you. So I'm Betsy's husband, for those of you who don't know me. Sometimes. Sometimes people call me a line. But Betsy's husband probably works better. Easier to pronounce, easier to spell. Betsy, for those of you that know her, know that she's something special. And throughout the years, it's, you know, I look back and I'm just amazed at all the things that she's accomplished and all the things that she set out to do. And not only has she accomplished, but she's crushed them, right? Years back, she said, I'm gonna run a marathon. Marathon. You can't even fucking. The corporate run, which is 30 miles. I'm going to do it. I'm like, well, how are you going to wake up so early? You're not a morning person. I'm going to do it. She runs a marathon. Not only does she run a marathon, she crushes the marathon. I remember being at the finish line and we're looking at her and it's like if she had just started running 30 seconds ago. I love you guys. I'm feeling great. I'm like, new. She says, I'm going to be a speaker. You're going to be. You're a psychologist. Went to school for many years to be a psychologist. I want to be a speaker. Lands these gigs with, you know, corporations in Miami, goes to speak at Miami Dade with a professor, she does it. She says, I'm going to make a company. What do you think? No, I'm going to do it. She does it. And lo and behold, Better with Betsy revolutionizes the city and our entire community. So when she tells me a couple of years ago, I'm going to write a book, I'm sure you're going to write a book. And like everything she's done before, not only does she write the book Precious, the book I love to read. I'm reading this and I'm thinking, this is another great book that I'm reading. Except that I'm in this book and you're the author pretty well. And I'm telling you, I'm like, I can't believe this. I'm just amazed. This book is not just for somebody who's lost a child or lost a family member. Betsy makes that very clear in the book. If you haven't read it yet, this is for somebody who's lost something. The way that she turns that hurt into hope. I mean, the title is perfect. The title couldn't be more spot on. Seven years ago, a little bit over seven years ago, I stood in front, in front of a large audience. Many of you were there. And I was going to talk about my beloved Fofi. She had died less than three days before. The pain was raw. I was sad. But I fast forward seven years later and I'm not sad. In fact, not only am I not sad, I'm happy. And I think everybody at this table can say the same thing. And we owe that to God. We owe that to this wonderful community that we have. Guys, thank you. Not only the community that's here, the community that's live streaming, the community that's all around the country, all around the world. You guys are amazing, and you will never know the effect you've had on us. Thank you. It to our family growing, to our wonderful friends. But most importantly, I'm happy today because thank you for being an amazing wife. Thank you for being an amazing mom. Thank you for putting together such a wonderful celebration for our daughter. For everyone, let's put our hands together for my badass wife and published the Operative, Sam.
