Betsy Guerra explains how life coaching and spirituality work together to help people stay on the right path toward their goals. Using a GPS metaphor, she distinguishes destination (goal), intention (the why/commitment), and the path (route), and encourages surrendering the path to God while choosing destination and intention. She gives a student example of finding a coaching program that aligned with her faith and ends with a call-to-action to visit betterwithbetsy.com for support.

Let me share with you what life coaching and spirituality taught me about staying in the right path. We all have goals and dreams, and life is the journey through which we achieve them. And every time we're going on a journey, we have a destination we want to arrive at. Usually, like if you think of a gps, when you're going somewhere, you enter the destination first. First. And then there's an intention for that. There's a reason you want to arrive at that destination. There's a why, and that's the intention, the why. Then there's the destination, where you want to get to, and the part in between is the path. It's the route. And when you think of a gps, the GPS guides you on what path to take. The path matters. Richard Rohr, my spiritual director, in one of his books, he wrote, the path you take determines where you arrive. So we can think like, oh, I want to get there, but if you take a different route, you're going to get somewhere else. So the route matters. Which is why I believe the route should be surrendered to God. Because he knows all of you. He knows the past, present, future. He knows the external circumstances that you will have no control over. So being guided by him as to what path to take, I think is brilliant and very wise. We get to choose the intention and the destination. We, as people who have free will, cannot give the path to God unless we choose to. He's a gentleman and he won't intrude unless we let Him. So my invitation to you is that you first set your destination. Where do you want to get to? Then you get clarity on your intention. Because what happens is when you set an intention, what you're doing is committing wholeheartedly to getting to the destination, number one. And number two, you're consenting to God's guidance. You're consenting to God's presence, presence and action within you so that you may listen to what he has in store for you. And that's how he can reveal the path to you. Let me give you an example. I have a student, actually a graduate of my life coaching academy, who always wanted to help people. She wanted to help people. And she's a woman of faith, so she wanted to do it in the light of that faith. And she tried signing up to other coaching academies and. And she was never, like, fulfilled. She was never confident that that's what she wanted for her life. And then she came across my program which incorporates psychology with spirituality, and she was sold immediately sold. But she had set the destination. I want to help people. I want to elevate humanity and I want to do it in the light of faith. And then she set her intention by prayer. She said, God, I know I'm going to do this. I know I'm meant for this and I want to do it because it's my purpose to use my gifts, my wisdom and my faith to help others overcome adversity. And by setting the intention and the destination, the coaching academy was revealed to her. So know and trust that the path you will be guided through it. Your job right now is to decide when you set an intention you decide what you're committing to and decide comes from the word desidere which means to remove all other possibilities. So set your intention and remove all other possibilities so that you may only arrive at the destination and then let God guide you in the path.
