When Self Doubt Holds You Back Remember This

Betsy Guerra argues that self-doubt blocks your success and that confidence is not arrogance but recognizing your God-given worth. She shares stories from meeting a baker and answering questions on Zoom to show how stepping into your gifts helps others, not just yourself.

When self doubt holds you back, remember this. Self doubt is one of the most destructive qualities you can possess and it will prevent you from experiencing success. The other day I was walking with a few friends and I met a new person and she said that she baked cookies and did all these things and I was like, oh my gosh, you do tiramisu? And she said, yeah, I mean, I don't eat sweets, but you know, yeah, people say it's good, I just eat the top part. And I was like, I don't want to buy your baked goods. She showed up. She thought she was being humble and simple and being a good Christian. But the truth is she had self doubt and she became very unattractive. And now I don't get to benefit from her gifts of baking and cooking because I didn't trust that she had them. By the way, she showed up. We do this all the time. We think we're coming from a place of humility because I shouldn't be boasting and be all arrogant and showing off. No, we're not talking about showing off. We're talking about confidence. Show up with confidence. How could you be any less than amazing if you were created to be to God's image and likeness? How God doesn't make crap. He's perfect and he made you to his image. You are amazing and you should walk around like you know it. Let me tell you a story. The other day I was answering some questions via Zoom. So my daughter was walking around the house while I was in the meeting and they asked me something and I am explaining how much I love what I do and how I'm the best at it because my heart is there and I have all this competence and I have this touch of spirituality and I'm special. I am really special in what I do and I'm speaking this way. And my daughter sent me a text and said, mom, you're a little too confident. You love yourself too much. And I thought that was the coolest thing because yes, I love myself and so should you. Well, love yourself. You can love me too. But you're modeling to your kids. You're attracting success. You're conveying your God given skills and talents to the world so they may hire you or befriend you or ask for your presence in their lives and be blessed by it. So hear me out. Confidence is sexy and so are you. So stop with this self doubt thing. Step into your greatness. Start with self love so that you may, number one, enjoy success. Number two, model for the people around you. And number three, be able to serve the people who you are meant to touch with your gifts. So if you're ready to become sexier, like and subscribe, share with your friends and go to betterwithbetsy.com.
