Whenever you're reading scripture, whenever you're meditating on the life and word of God, don't let the mind be the one who studies it and learns it and memorizes it. Let the indwelling God, let your heart, your spirit be the one that opens up and receives that word without changing it to our liking, without manipulating it to say and describe what we wanted so that we may feel justified and righteous and right. I just think it's important to emphasize the experience of it more than memorizing it or studying it, trying to understand it with our human capacity.
