A short YouTube video by Betsy Guerra answering an Instagram question about sticking to decisions. Guerra advises focusing on progress and patience rather than immediate outcomes, using weight-loss as an example to show how daily small choices snowball into long-term change. She highlights internal gains — increased energy, habit formation, and self-trust — and points viewers to her blog/video at betterwithbetsy.com for more.

Thank you for asking us questions on Instagram and for the opportunity to help us create content that's going to help you become a better version of you. Today's question is, how can I stick to what I've decided? Focus on progress. So, for example, when you decide that you're going to lose £20 and you get yourself a trainer and you start working out big time, you're working out two, two hours a day, you're dieting, you're going hungry, you're doing all sorts of things that are aligned with you getting to those £10 or £20 less. But then after you've done all that for a week, you come home and you look at yourself in the mirror and guess what's different in your body. Nothing. Your thighs are still deliciously big and your love handles are there and you're just not feeling it. And you're wondering, why am I working so hard for there to be no change in a whole week? But we forget that we've been 40 years eating pizza and ice cream at night and doing all these things that don't lead to less love handles and smaller thighs, but we want to undo that in a week. It is the conglomeration of little things that snowball into the big things, and it is also the snowball effect that's going to get us from little things that we do on a daily basis to get the big solution to those problems that we're trying to overcome. So you have this weight and you become this parent or this spouse or this person because of little decisions that you've made on a daily basis for years or maybe your entire life. Let's have a little patience and focus on progress. Focus on progress means that you're not going to look at the ultimate outcome at the finish line. You're gonna go mile by mile, one day at a time. There's so much wisdom in that saying. It's a cliche, I know, but there's a lot of wisdom in it. You're gonna go one day at a time, and you focus on progress. When you shift your perspective to, yes, my thighs are not where I want them to be, and my love handles are still there, but I feel better about myself. I can't believe I've been able to assume this habit. I am more energetic. I have realized that I can commit to something and follow through. There are a lot of things that have changed within you. Focus on that. Focus on the things that you have accomplished, and that will prevent you from getting discouraged and give up on your goal. If you want to learn more about this, you can go to my blog and my video betterwithbetsy.com Focus on progress. Have a great day.
