A short first-person reflection by Betsy Guerra recounting a conversation in which someone asked about her income and then reframed her unpaid household work (cooking, cleaning, laundry, childcare/GC/nanny equivalents) as valuable labor. Through simple arithmetic comparing market rates (general contractor, nanny), the speaker is told she is effectively a six-figure producer, which challenges her self-deprecating view and validates unpaid contributions.

You taught me about life. I was going to you for business. You asked something about my salary or like how much money I made my income the previous year. I was laughing at myself and in a very self deprecating way and I was like oh Yeah, I made $20,000 like and you were really serious and you looked at me and said what else did you do last year? And I kept on telling you all the things that I was doing like cooking and cleaning and laundry and and then you did the math. You were like well a GC would cost $60,000 and hiring a nanny would have cost $20,000 and you kept on doing the math and you were like so you're a six figure producer. And I was like when you put it that way, yes I am. And from the beginning you did not give me permission to put myself down and to undermine the things that I did do that I didn't get paid for.
