Billy Malady and his helper Nisha pour a concrete foundation for a chicken coop, starting with a 5.5 ft × 6.5 ft frame on Friday and mixing and pouring the concrete Saturday morning using a skid-steer loader. His first dry pour technique keeps things practical and occasionally chaotic.

Okay, it's late Friday afternoon after work, which is why I hadn't got my cowboy hat on. Uh, today is build a frame for the concrete pour tomorrow, uh, for the chicken coop. So got the wood here, got everything, got my helper over there. There's the other helper right there. It's got something in his mouth. He brings stuff to us.
Anyway, we're gonna get started on this, uh, on this framing build.
All right, first thing, Nisha, I need you to measure out and mark 5.5 feet. All right, so this is going to be 5.5 by 6.5. Where is it? Right here. All right, so now we're going to draw our line. I'm going to put all the music— I mean, all the sound out anyway. Put some pressure on it. Put some pressure on it.
I'm trying to put pressure on it and it keeps moving.
Good job. One more at the bottom. I'll just struggle with how long it is. I don't know, that's such a wide mark. I don't know where the 6.5 is. Okay, let's go do the same thing on the other side.
Let's see if that's the true 6.
Okay, good, good idea. Yep, good enough. Good job.
Gee, thanks for leaving me talking. So this is the container right here, right? And this is a trailer, right? And this is our pathway.
Yeah.
And what I want to do is I want to walk in and clean the coop here, right? Yeah. I want to be able to clean right here and I want to walk in and get eggs here.
Yep.
And eggs here.
Yep.
I don't really want to go to the back, so how do I—
I guess they're old.
Ace, I don't need your help, buddy.
All right, here we are Saturday morning. Brought up the, uh, concrete on the skid steer. Had a few accidents along the way. Now it is time to get started on tamping down, put some concrete in, and get this thing rolling.
Hey, move! There's no way we need this thing back.
You'd be surprised. Look at it, its face is all gray.
