Mavic pro-Jiayi and I learning the Drone together

A father and son fly a DJI Mavic Pro for the first time, learning its camera, autofocus, and flight modes like Follow Me and Orbit. They navigate windy conditions, avoid a nearby FedEx plane, and troubleshoot stability issues at low altitude as they figure out the drone together.

All right, there we go. Oh man, is it digging into the ground? No, that was— that was a good answer. It's windy out here. All right, let's see. There we go. See, the base isn't that stable. All right, so I'm here with my number 2 son, Jai, right there. All right, so we're going to, uh, be flying a drone. He's in town. Yeah, we're gonna fly the drone, right? So he's probably a little better than I am. Oh well, if windy as it is. We'll see. Kind of worried about the— I don't know how to swim, so I'm not going in that lake to get it though. Oh, so this guy did Uh, controls. Oh, it's got that up. Yes. Okay. So you don't need, um, oh, the apps look similar. Yeah. And it does its own thing. Yeah, that's quick. The Phantom takes, uh, 5 to 10 seconds. Yeah, okay, so it has the same stabilization, right? Yeah, it's got all the professional features, man. Yeah. Be. This thing is pretty, uh, but you know how that works. This is the, uh, the camera. Yeah, yeah. Is this a dual side or is it up and down? Oh no, I wish it was. Yeah, one of them, they made one that does that. If I had that, I wouldn't have had a grip. Uh, there's a thing about it, I don't know about these, this right here is auto focus. Auto focus, okay. So you got to hit focus. It doesn't have a great, uh, oh, okay, great autofocus. They also come with a sunshade. Yeah, which obviously you probably need. I can see, uh, you can also get like boosters for antennas. I got some. Yeah, uh, I haven't really used them yet though. Try not to get too close to the FedEx planes. Yeah, true. All right, so let's, let's see what we got. All right, with this much wind, like, it's incredible how well it stays. Yeah, it doesn't, uh, it's not saying anything about, uh, wind velocity. Yeah, we're at, uh, 31 feet, which is not very high. So what's this clearance? I said above. I lose it all the time. Does the, uh, does the screen actually get any brighter? You can change this roll right here. Yeah. Oh, okay. Changes the, uh, the gamma balance or something. Yeah. The exposure, I guess. So you record this button right there, that's a picture. So what we want to do— I want to try something. Yeah, you got a tree at your 9:00. Should be coming straight down, right? Yeah. Oh yeah, we got it. Nice. Coming A little bit. Turn the camera down toward us. Get away from it for a minute. Find the best view. All right, so let's do— I think it's here. Yeah. Uh, oh, Jester. Jester. Okay, so did you have Jester on that one? Nope. Doesn't need to be. So the first— that's pretty easy. Yeah. Okay, wait, I don't understand. Oh, you know what, that's a good— we'll just hit you again. Oh, okay, we'll try you. All right, give it a Jester. No, hold, hold your hands open a while. I want to make sure it's got you. I'm going to turn it off, turn it back on. All right, do it again. Okay, you sit. I guess it's got you. I don't know. Will this follow me? Yeah, this I see what I want to try to do on the next one. I want to try to do that orbit. I haven't done that yet. Of course, you know, that other one didn't do too well. Trace, it did well at home. Yeah, I don't understand why it didn't do well here. All right, shame it's too windy for the GoPro. Stay.
