Modified 1979 Corvette C3, custom work

Billy Malady walks through his heavily modified 1979 Corvette C3, which has an LS2 engine with a MagnaCharger supercharger, custom side pipes, hand-made red and black seats, and nearly every component replaced or upgraded. The car is essentially a 1979 shell with 2011 internals.

Hey, this is the first video of my restored 1979 Vette. Well, probably not restored, more modified. Just kind of take a look at the exterior. There's the custom side pipes that I had made. There's my American Racer wheels. Moving around to the back, we added LED tail lights. Going underneath a little bit, you can see that's the Sharkbite suspension. In fact, almost everything underneath is brand new. Come around this side. Again, the side pipes. Paint probably looks pretty good in the picture, and it looks pretty decent in real life, but it does need a paint job. On the front, I replaced the black grilles, plastic grilles, with this stainless wire mesh. I don't know if you can see that, but I thought that was a nice touch. All right, back around this side. If you look in the interior, you'll see the custom seats that I had made. Obviously it's a red and black interior, so I can go exterior either red or black Corvette logos. In the back, there's my custom-made speaker boxes on both sides in the cargo area. Alright, so you see on the inside we got matching door panels. Come on in. Seal guards. This is the handmade steering wheel that I had made to match the interior. We'll start here. I took out 2 gauges and added a 6-inch nav DVD satellite radio system. in the background we went with carbon fiber backing. You come on down to the bottom of the console, I added 2 cup holders which were not standard in '79. Also carbon fiber here, cobalt gauges for the main dash, also carbon fiber in the back, cobalt gauges, there's the boost gauge, and LED lights for indicator lights. All new dash, actually all new carpet, all new interior. Even this type stuff is new. On the upper panels, I had everything hand-wrapped in a leather simulated vinyl type fabric that looks really good. It fits really tight. It's hard to see this in the video. What else? I think that's about it for the inside. Underneath, everything is new from the ball joints to the U-joints to the bushings. So let's crank it up. Indicator lights. Light ahead. Pop the hood. Okay, there's the engine. It is an LS2 engine with a MagnaCharger supercharger on top. I had these panels, this radiator cover, header cover all custom made. Of course the master cylinder and brake booster are all chromed. So pretty much it is a 1979-2011 Corvette because everything in the car is pretty much new. One last look at the inside. And a little bit of noise for you. And that's what it sounds like.
