3 Stupid Things That I Do... and How To Correct Them

Short motivational monologue in which the speaker (Blair Singer) names three recurring mental habits—worry, regret, and fear—explains why each is unhelpful (wastes time/energy, harms wellbeing), and urges being present, surrounding oneself with positive people, and reframing anxiety into excitement. Ends with a personal commitment and call to action to stay in the present.
I want to share with you three really stupid things that I do and see if you do the same. Three stupid things. Okay, the first stupid thing that I do is I worry. Now why is that stupid? Well, it's stupid because worry is about my concern about what's going to hasn't happened yet. Okay, what hasn't happened yet. And the truth. And the reason that's stupid is because probably about 60 to 70% of the things you worry about never happen anyway. And the ones that do happen are never as bad as you think they're going to be to begin with anyway. So it's wasted time, it's wasted energy, it's stress. It beats up my immune system. Stupid. Stupid. You know the second stupid thing I do? I. I spend time regretting things. Could have, should have, would have, could have, should have done this, should have done that, could have done this. Why'd I do that? I was a bad person for doing it. Stupid. Why? Because I can't change any of it. It's all over with. I can't do anything about it. I can't go back and change it. So spending time on it, I'm not present anymore. I'm stuck in the past. Wasted time, waste of precious time and waste of energy. And it creates stress and again beats up my immune system and brings me down. You want to know the third stupid thing that I do is I have a lot of fear. And why is that stupid? Well, the reason that's so stupid is because I'm afraid of things. Most of the things I'm afraid of are things that haven't happened yet either. It's kind of like the worry. Okay, so I'm afraid of things that I don't know. But why couldn't I just be as excited about things that I don't know about? If I'm fearing making a sales call because I'm afraid of what might happen, that's the worry again. Half those things aren't going to happen. Why not just get excited about what could happen? So I don't know about you. These are three things that I waste my mind power on. I waste my mindset, I waste my energy on. Brings my energy down and causes me to look at the world through a kind of a negative filter. And worse yet, I just thought of a fourth stupid thing. Surround myself with other people that do the same thing. Sometimes that's really crazy because if you've got a vision of who you want to be, a vision of who you could become, and a thought that there's a bigger, better person inside of you, which I know there is. You cannot afford to hang around other people that are negative, that are worried, that have regrets, that are fearful, that you know are doomsdayers. Why? Because. Because it's hard enough to control your own little voice, let alone having a whole chorus of other people's little voices feeding your negative little voice. So don't be stupid. Don't be stupid anymore. I'm making a commitment today to stop being so stupid. Be present. The point of power is in the present. And the more you can be in the moment and appreciate the things that are right there in front of you, the better the world will turn out. I promise you. Be awesome.
