6 Things You Should NEVER Do If you Want to Win in Business or in Life

Blair Singer outlines six behaviors to avoid for success: dismissing mentors, reacting instantly to criticism, gossiping, comparing yourself to others, letting others control your mood, and investing based on ads alone. He recommends building self-esteem, writing goals with a plan, and practicing gratitude.
Never, never, ever, ever, ever do this. Never do this. A lot of people tell you what to do. I'm going to tell you what never to do. Because sometimes the best thing to do is nothing in order to win, believe it or not. Okay? So again, this is. This is imperative. And again, if you want more information about this, go to blairslinger.com forward/story to give you some more details on this. But a couple of things to never, ever, ever do if you want to win. Number one. Number one, never ever tell a mentor, somebody that's mentoring you. It's taking time to work with you, showing you the ropes, whatever advice they're giving you, if they've got good experience, never tell them I know that. Ever. Even if you know it, don't ever say it. The only reason you would say it is to prove to them that you're smart. That upsets them, that pisses them off. Don't do that. Don't tell them you already know. Don't. Don't tell them I've already tried that. Don't say I've already done that. Don't tell them it won't work. Even if you've done all those things and they don't work. Don't. Just listen. Just listen. Because what will happen is even if you've done it or tried it, you'll hear it differently. Ask more questions about it. Don't say I've already done it because it's gonna shut. Shut it off. You want to be open and receptive. You want good ideas. You want to be included in great investments. You to want, want to be a part of great opportunities, then shut up. Don't say those things. Don't say those things. That's the first thing never, ever to do if you want to win in business or lit win in Life. Okay? Number two, this is a never, never respond within 60 seconds of any upsetting comment, complaint, or feedback. Don't do it. 60 seconds. All I'm telling you, don't do this, okay? Because I guarantee if you can wait 60 seconds, the quality of response will be 10 times 100 times better than if you respond immediately. Okay? Now, I don't have to tell you the number of times where I've opened my mouth too quickly, I said something when I was upset. You know what we say is when your emotion is high, your intelligence is low, you just take down these, these six things just. And put it by where you work, wherever you're working, in your cubicle and your new job and your business, whatever, just do this, and keep this as your ten commandments of things not to do. I'm not telling you what to do. I tell you not to do these things, and you're gonna see a magnificent change. Okay, so the first one is what to never say to a mentor. Don't ever say you already know something. That's number one. Okay? The second thing is, don't respond within 60. Wait 60 seconds. A minimum. At a minimum before responding to anything upsetting. Okay, Longer if you can, but at least 60 seconds. All right? Number three. Three. Never do this. Never do this. Never trash other people. Never gossip about other people. That. No matter who you're with, no matter how safe you think you are, no matter if nobody's watching or not, don't do it. Don't do it. Couple reasons. First of all. First of all, when I first learned to sell, we were always taught never to trash our competition when we were talking to a customer. Don't do it. It's bad taste. And what goes around comes around. So don't do that. That's first simple reason. Obviously. The other reason is it's complaining. It's moaning. It's complaining about other people. It's bl. People. It's putting other people down so that you can look better, making fun of them. Don't do that. You put that energy in the air, then you're going to live and die by that sword too. Okay? Don't gossip and don't talk trash about other people. Just leave it out of your vocabulary. Other people are doing it. You just want to listen, smile, but don't get into it. You will emerge as a person people can trust. People will be. Will share confidential information with you. People will treat you differently, special. Don't do that. If you do that, you lower yourself into a realm of people that spend their entire lives gossiping and complaining and being victimized and moaning and bitching about all kinds of stuff. Okay? So don't do that. Don't ever do that. Okay? Number four. This is a big one. Never, never, never compare yourself. I'll say it again. Just write that down. Never compare yourself to others. Never do it. Don't. If. Because if you do that. First of all, what happens if you're comparing yourself to others? You just cut your energy and effectiveness in half. Because part of you is focused on what other people are doing. It's guiding what you're doing. And you're not being creative. You're not thinking for yourself, and you're being guided and being led around by. By the mob. Don't do, don't compare yourself to other people. There's nobody like you. There's nobody with your experience. And even if you feel like you have no experience, don't compare. You're wherever you're at, be your best, do your best, but don't compare yourself to other people. Instead. Instead, what I recommend is spend some time liking yourself. Spend some time liking yourself. My mentor, Mac Newton says it really well. He says, he says your results are a function of your self concept, how you see yourself. And the most important part of how you see yourself is something called your self esteem. Now what is self esteem? Self esteem is not confidence. Self esteem is not bravado. Self esteem is not peace of mind. Self esteem simply means how much you like yourself, how much you like yourself. And sometimes he had us do an exercise today at our workout that everybody had to sit and say I like myself five times and try not to smile. And you couldn't do it no matter how bad you were feeling or whatever. I like myself. I like myself. I like myself. I like my. You will smile, you will change your. At least for the moment, change your opinion of yourself. That's a much better way to do it than trying to compare yourself. Copy other people, all that now. Copy best practices. That's not what I'm talking about. But compare your wealth, compare your position, compare your effectiveness. It'll kill you. Never do that. Okay, just a quick review. Certain things, never tell a mentor, never tell a mentor that you already know something. Ever do that. Don't ever do that. Number two, if something upsetting comes your way, wait 60 seconds at a minimum before you respond or you'll regret it later, okay? Number three, don't trash talk or gossip other people or gossip about them. Ever do that. Number four is don't compare yourself. Okay, only two more here. Number five. Number five. Never, never, never, never, never, never, never let someone else determine your mood level. I'll say it again. Never let somebody else determine your mood level. You know, if you will say you feel bad about yourself, other people make you feel bad. There's only one person that can make you feel bad, and that's you, okay? If you believe the crap that other people say, then that's on you, okay? If you take all that to heart, that's on you. And sometimes it's really hard, I know that. But if you're just. And by the way, the reason I'm doing all this, the reason I'm doing all this, it comes to mind is I have a. I have two young sons. Well, not so young anymore. 26 and 20, you know, and they're just starting out and they're, they're coming back with these problems and these are the lessons. Had somebody told me these lessons, I would have saved so much time. And, and, and I'm still. Because I'm still learning them. I'm still learning them, okay? So don't let someone else determine your mood level. You can manufacture your mood level. You can say, I like myself. You can do whatever you need to do, jump up and down, go for a run, whatever. But you determine your mood level. Don't ever let anybody else do that. Walk away if you got to. If you're in an interaction, in interaction with them. Okay? And number six, It's a funny one. Number six, never, never, ever, ever, ever make a sizable investment from a brochure or an ad. Don't do it. I'm not saying don't take, don't use the ad. Use the ad to get started on some due diligence. But never, never invest straight from an ad. Find out more, learn more. Boy, I'll tell you, whether it's real estate investment, whether it's buying, a training program, whatever it is, make sure you have some due diligence. What's that mean? Get some experience with whoever you're buying it from or to look into what they do. Get a referral, something. But I've known many people that have lost money and I've done it too early on where I just looked at a brochure or an ad and I just clicked on and bought it, okay? Without doing it. And you know, sometimes you win, but most of the times you don't, okay? So don't ever, ever do that. Now as a bonus, I'm going to give you three things to do, okay? I told you, never do, never do all this stuff, okay? Never do it. Never, never, never push back on a master or, or a mentor. Delay, sorry, delay Your response for 60 seconds if you need to. Never trash talk or gossip around other people or other people. Don't compare yourself to others. Don't let someone else determine your mood level. And don't invest from a brochure, okay? Number one thing you should do, I already told you, boost your self concept, boost your self esteem. People always ask me, you know, I'm hiring a sailing, a sales team or I'm hiring somebody, what's most important? I got that question so many times, hiring a salesperson, what should I look for? What's the most important quality? What's the most important quality. Okay, I'll tell you the most important quality. You want to know what it is right here, right now? It's what we were just talking about. It's your. It's a person that has high self esteem. That's what you want. Because no matter how talented they are, no matter how brilliant they are, no matter how much they know, your results are never greater than your self concept how you see yourself. If a person's smart, bright, got all the skills, but they feel like they don't deserve it, they haven't earned the right yet, all that stuff, they're not going to do well for you and it's going to take a while for them to get past all that stuff. That's another training for another time. Okay, but if you want to know one thing, hire people with high self esteem. And how do you know they have self esteem? Do they like themselves? Ask them the question do you, do you actually like your. Watch me that I just want to know do you like yourself? In the mirror you say I like myself and they say well I, you know, I'm not. That's a no. Okay, if they say yeah I do as a matter of fact and they smile, you got somebody, you got somebody good. Okay, so again, boost your self esteem. Boost your own self esteem by saying I like myself, I believe in myself, I have faith in myself to boost your own. But when hiring somebody, look for somebody that's got that already built in. Okay, second thing to do, be a goal setter. Be a goal setter, but not just a goal setter because the goal setters and wishers are kind of similar. The difference with the goals, you wrote them down, you went through a process but a goal is still kind of a wish. If you have no plan, be a goal setter with a plan, a goal setter with a plan, a written plan, a visual plan, a plan to go from here to there, to go from employee to be self employed, from self employed to business owner, from a non investor to an investor, whatever it is, write out a plan, get up, create a plan. And by the way if you go to blairsinger.com on products and you and you check out planning or pert P E R T show you exactly how to do that. So exactly how to do that you can do it right online and we show you exactly how to do it. And the third final thing, I know this went a little long but thank you for staying here that I shared the six things you should never do and now the three things you should always do. And the most important thing you should always do the last one. The very, very last one. Be grateful you knew it was coming. Be grateful. Be grateful for what you have. Be grateful for what the universe gives to you. Know that everything good, bad or otherwise is a blessing. There's two sides to every coin. There's what you're looking at, but there's also a backside to it. There's a silver lining, whatever you want to call it, be blessed. Be grateful. Be grateful you're alive. Be grateful you got another day. Be grateful you have the people around you that you have, the good ones, the not so good ones, the scoundrels, because they all give you gifts. They all give you gifts. And the one thing I'm going to say is the people that I know that are the most successful entrepreneurs are able to see, even in the face of adversity or dire consequence or something that happened really, really bad right in that moment, that in that moment they are able to actually smile and see the blessing in this in disguise. They can see it now. I wish I was that good. I'm not. I work on that. What happens is, oh, good. It's all good. And it's right in front of you. You can do that. You'll win every single time. And so, and if you, and if you want to know more about how to do this, by the way, if you go to blairsinger.com forward slash story, forward slash story. And you want to be able to win influence in less than two or three minutes, anywhere you go, whether it's on a sales call, whether you're talking to your boss, whether you're talking, whether you're in front of a room, if you're trying to present something, there's. There's a five template free PDF file that you can download where you can actually fill it out on your own, I show you exactly how to do it. You can look like a rock star, gain the respect and the influence, and have influence over everybody you meet almost instantly. Just download it. It's totally free. Go to blairsinger.com story and have a look at it. Take a look at it. You deserve to have people listen to you. You deserve to win. But don't do these six things and do these three and get the storyboard builder. And so that when you walk into a room, you are your 100% best every single time. All right, that's enough for today. I'll see you next week. Be your amazing self. You rock.
