Blair Singer explains that communication succeeds when listeners understand your message, not when you deliver it. Verify that your words landed as intended instead of assuming people got it.
If you're going to be a great teacher or a leader, you got to be a great communicator. That's obvious. But you have to ask yourself, as a communicator, are you communicating well? Or when you're done speaking, are people actually more confused or more distorted than ever before? See, that's why we say that communication is a response you get, not what you deliver. If you want to be a great communicator, remember that the response that you get determines how well you communicated. So don't finish the communication until you verified that your communication landed in the way that you wanted to be amazing. Do not be a distorter, and don't confuse people.
