As a leader you have one job!

Blair Singer shares a retired colonel's definition of great leadership: bringing out the best in other people. A leader's job is to care for others, inspire them, and help them become who they want to be.
So part two about how do you motivate people? Came from a retired colonel. This guy was tough as nails. Great leader of men. I asked him, I said, so how do you become a better leader? What is the definition of a great leader? He says, real simple, Blair. A great leader brings out the best in other people. That's it. I go, not about decision. He goes, no, great leaders bring out the best in other people. And you know that because when you're in the presence of a great leader, you feel naturally inspired. Inspired to want to be better for them and for yourself. So what I learned is this, in this group that I talked to is I said, if you just do your job as a leader, you'll motivate. That's it. Now, of course, I had to explain what that was all about, but as a leader, your job is not to be anything else, but the person who cares and has the ability to bring out the best in other people, allow them to see the best of themselves and allow them to become who they want to become. You do that.
