A brief motivational monologue by Blair Singer arguing that a leader's environment (physical, social, mental) is more influential than willpower. He asks leaders to audit their physical space, social circle, and internal mindset, and to deliberately control those environments for better team and personal results.
As a leader, you know environment is stronger than will. No matter how strong you are mentally or emotionally, sometimes the environment overpowers and that affects your results directly. So therefore, check your physical environment. Is it open? Is it can you think clearly? Do you have free thought? Or is it claustrophobic and you feel like you have no space? Check your social environment. Are you hanging around people with high mood levels, creating lots of great opportunities? Or do you feel like you're an emotional dishrag for other people and you feel worn out at the end of the day? But most of all, think about your own mental and emotional mindset. Is it filled with negative little voices and doubting yourself all day long and anxieties and fears? Or are you preoccupied with lots of great opportunities and lots of things that you can do? Either way, you control the environment for you and your team, so make sure you choose wisely.
