How to Plan Your Business & Climb Out of the Rat Race with PERT | Blair Singer

Blair Singer walks through building a scalable business using PERT, a planning method that works backward from your goal. He shows how to map tasks and sequences with a birdhouse example, then a real company that cut costs by reordering steps. The core: assemble a team, protect yourself legally, build systems for marketing and sales, then execute.
Foreign. Oh, my God. Am I ever gonna get out of the rat race? Am I ever gonna stop struggling for money? Am I ever gonna stop worrying about paying expenses? Am I ever gonna get some freaking time off? I thought with COVID everybody gets shut down. It's gonna be easier. You know, at least I can chill out at home. I got busier. I got busier. It gets longer and harder. And work at all hours. Does this sound familiar? Okay, welcome. My name is Blair. And welcome back to our series on how to get out of the business rat race to a completely scalable business. Now, if that dialogue sounds familiar to you, it's because I hear it all over the place. And you know what? People are quitting their jobs. Right, left and center. It's the middle of the great resignation. And. And you know what? Here's the challenge. The challenge is when the savings money runs out and a couple of clients you got run out. Now you're going to be back to the same problem that every business owner has is how do you really build a real business? Okay? So if you're still in the E quadrant as an employee and you're thinking about jumping, go ahead, but follow the process. I'm going to show you the process. We're on step number three. Step number three. Okay. And. And again, that whole thing about working 24 7, I was sharing with a friend in Mexico on a call we were doing today, and he said, you know, I got more busy. You know, the revenue was about the same, but I was busier. And I'm working all day and I'm working at home. But, okay, that's a rat race. That's a rat race. Good for a while, not good for the long term. So unless you plan to go back to your boring job, which I hope you're not willing to do, and you're ready to really make a strikeout, to strike out into the real world, to build a real business. Follow the plan. Follow the plan. Okay? And so if you want to learn this quickly, stay tuned. Subscribe to my YouTube channel. Subscribe to our Facebook group, our Facebook channel here, and watch these videos again and again. If you want to do it really fast and you want us some good guides, some good mountain guides to take you, then go to blairsinger.com forward/plan, okay? And sit down, make an appointment. We'll talk about what your situation is and give you the first plan to get you there. Okay? And if we can do work, do some more work for you, we will. But again, we're on step Number three. Step number three. Okay, so I'm going to use a little new technology here. I'm going to share my screen. There we go. Okay, that works. Okay, so I'm just. If you recall, you. This is like climbing Kilimanjaro. Here's the mountain. Okay. Start at the bottom. You start down here. Right? Starting down here. Remember, our first step was what's the mission? What do you want and why do you want it? So what's the reason why and what's the mission? A clear, simple mission. And here's the requirement, gang. If you want to go to the B quadrant, remember what that is. That's over here. Right? It's if you want to go over here to the B quadrant and you're anywhere over here or here, then you need something. B stands for big. Something big. Bigger than you. That's going to motivate you to get there and help and help you drive a team. Okay, we talked about that. Because you're going to use that when you go to, when you assemble your team. Okay, so mission that was step one. Step two, an honest assessment. An honest assessment of where you are. What's your true financial position? If you had to go with no money and no income, how could long could you last on what you got right now? Is it dependent on the stock market staying at a bubble or if the market crashed, which it probably will fairly soon, how you going to be doing? Okay, so again, what's your assessment? Assessment of your finances, assessment of your skills? What do you know? What, what are you good at? I mean, you may be good at selling. Okay, that's good. That's one component of several components which I'll show you that you need to master or assemble a team that can do it with you and for you. Okay, so we talked about assessment. Do an honest assessment of where you're at. Okay, so not delusional. I want to make a million dollars. I want a seven digit income. Okay, well, a little more specific than that. Doing what to whom, for what reason, for what reason? And again, the re. The reasons are as important to get you out of bed every day to do it as they are the same reasons that you, that somebody you recruit will want to be part of your team. Okay, so that's critical. And by the way, if you have comments, if you have comments that you want to make, type them in the, type them in the comment section. Ask me some questions. If I, even if we don't get to them in, in this broadcast, then I will broadcast the answers later. Okay. So again, if you've got some questions, just post them up there. All right? All right. So now step number three. What's step number three? What is step number three? The step number three is really simply what's the plan? Or what we call it, what's the pert? P E R T. P E R T stands for project evaluation, Review, Technique. What's the plan to get you up here? How are you going to do that? Okay, what's the plan now? So I'm going to show you how we do this, how this, how this gets done. Actually, this is kind of a per. This is a sample of what a PERT chart might look like. But let me just explain. This process I'm about to show you is not new. It was developed in the late 50s to develop the first Polaris missile submarine and launch the first intercontinental ballistic missile from a submerged submarine successfully. Okay. It required over 400 contractors. Over a million events had to come together at the same time. Sometime in 1958 or something like that when they launched it. And it all worked. It all came together. The plan comes together. The plan is not a dream. The plan is not a hope. The plan is not a wish. The plan is a real step by step plan that's been proven not only to launch a Polaris missile, same process used to put a man on the moon. Same process to get them back again safely. And many other major projects that have been taken on through the course of our history. Now I'm not going to get into all the details about it. Hey, hello. That's what looks like somebody from Vietnam. Okay? So I'm, I'm not going to go into all of that. I'm going to keep this really, really, really, really, really simple. Now those of you that want that decide to go to blairsinger.com forward/plan will get more detailed with this. And part of our whole curriculum is to create the specific plan for you to get you to the top of this mountain. Okay. To get you up. Where is it? Right. Yeah, up here to the top. To a scalable business. Okay, so how does this work? Well, the way that PERT works. Let me give you a blank screen here. The way the PERT works PERT is a, is a planning process with you over here. And it's only designed to go from the known where you are now to the unknown. Now if it's already something you know how to do, you don't need to plan it because you've already done it. Just follow, follow the steps and follow the Procedure, right? You don't need all that. Okay? So it's only from going from the known to the unknown. Now here's the trick. The trick is, where do you start? The way you start a pert, the way you begin to go from the known to the unknown. So they didn't know how to build a Polaris missile. They didn't know how to get people on the moon. Nobody had ever done it before. That's why they had to create a pert, because the pert will tell you what you don't know and tell you and show you the pathway when you don't, when you have confusion. Okay, so the way this works, so let's say you're here and you want the sb. That's the scalable business over here. And let's say the scalable business, you'll know you've reached there when you have a selling prototype of some sort. Let's say you're building a product. Let's say you're a trainer and you have a digital program, a digital online program, and it's now in the market, it's selling, it's generating passive income on your own. That's a baby step toward a scalable business. Now, there's lots of ways to scale. We talked about that last week. But for right now, let's just say that's it. Now what's the first step? You set your goal. Right, we set our mission. Now we start to make a plan, right? Wrong. You don't do it that way. You don't do it that way. That's not the way it's done. That's the way most people do it. And because they don't have enough money and because they don't have enough time and because they don't have a team, they give up, they get overwhelmed. I can't do it. It's too much. Why? Because you've already been programmed for most of your life, if you're in the S quadrant or in the E quadrant, to do things on your own. I do things on my own. I do things on my own. Right. So again, it's not natural when people step out to do this project, they're going into the unknown. It's like they start looking at all the things they. Their eyes roll back in their head and they can't do it because they don't understand this process I'm showing you, okay? So you don't start here. That's not how it works. That you don't start here. That's the wrong thing. To do. You don't start here. You start here, where your energy's high. Where your energy was really high. Right. And so you start in the future. This is the future. This is the present. Let's just get rid of some of this. This is the present right here. Okay, so you start in the future here and you work your way backwards. So what would. In order to have that. Selling that pro, that sellable prototype working in the market, what would I have had to have done just before that? Well, what do I have to do? Okay, so I would have had to. My marketing machine would have to be running. Okay. My marketing machine had to be running. Okay, so then what would have. That. What would happen just before that? Well, okay, so now we got to start taking a look at the things that I need to do to build that marketing machine. What else would have happened just before that? Well, what also would have happened just before that is I prep. Maybe I have a sales team. If I'm actually, I'm making appointments and I'm selling stuff. So sales team. Sales team. Selling. Okay. Okay. My sales team is selling. Okay. Etc. Etc. And you work your way all the way back to the present. Now, this is really simple. I'm going to make it even simpler for you here in a second. Okay, so it looks something like this. And this is what we call a pert Chart. Per chart. Right. Okay, so let's take a look. This is what a finished one might look like. Let's look at. Let's say we're going to build a birdhouse. Now, I kind of did this one for you already, so if you can kind of look, if I can zoom, zoom you out here. Right. So if you see this, we're going to build a birdhouse. Okay. Birdhouse was installed. Okay, what happened just before that? Well, birdhouse was assembled. What happened before that? Well, birdhouse materials were allocated. Good. So what happened before that? We. We designed the birdhouse. All right, good. That's good. What's the next step? So how long is each of these things going to take? Well, to design a birdhouse takes about a day. I'm going to figure. A day. Getting the materials is going to take a day to assemble. It might take me three days. And birdhouse is installed. We're going to install. Take one day. Okay, so already I now know this whole thing is going to take me, what, one, two, five, six days to build this thing. I already know that now. Okay, so let's say we started on November 1st. Okay, so where did these dates come from? So we're going to start here. So 111 plus 1 plus 1 day will equal 112 plus another day, that's now 113 plus 3 days, that's 11 6. So the earliest time I'm going to get this done is 11 6. So, but, but I need to get this birdhouse up by the 15th of November. Okay. All right, so let's say we type in, we write in 15th of November. We subtract one day here. So we subtract one day and that gives us this one, 11 14. We subtract three days from that and we now have 11 11. And we subtract one day from that, we have 11 10. So now what we got here. There we go. So now what we have is we actually have ourselves a little pert chart here. Okay? The day by day, we know exactly where we are, the earliest time to, to start it, the, and the latest time to finish it. Now there's more in between, but this is a very, very simple process. Okay? When you're going to build, send somebody to the moon, you're going to have more than four steps to it. There's, I think there was over a million, okay, several million tasks and several per charts that all came together to make that happen. But the same thing is true in a business, because a real B quadrant business, unfortunately or fortunately, is a little more complicated than just trading your time for money. What do you need? Okay, so what do we, what do you need? So you would go to our, our, our friend Rich dad over here. This is what you need to build that kind of a business. Okay? We talked about mission already, okay? Your mission. Okay, you got your mission. Okay, we're good. You are the leader. Your leadership, you, you've done an honest assessment. Now at the minimum, the things that you need to have a, a sustainable, brandable, scalable business, you need a product. But notice that the product is the smallest part of the whole equation here. It's not the big one. See, if you're doing things on your own, you're the big thing. You're the asset and you're the liability. Okay, so again, you need the product. What else do you need? You need legal. If you're, these days, if you're going global and you got any kind of a product, do you realize how quickly somebody can knock it off? I mean, there's 2 and a 2.3. I heard 2.3 billion people watching YouTube every day watching this right now if they wanted to. And if you don't have your stuff protected, See, look Notice this. There's a little R down here. That little R protects this thing so nobody else can use it in the world. You know, little voice mastery. Nobody else can use that in the world. Sales dogs. Nobody can use that in the world. Why? Because we took the time to get. Make sure we have legal structures. If you're going to do joint ventures with people, if you're going to work with other people. Unfortunately, not all people are good people, as you may have figured out. Okay? Not all people are good people. So you need to have good legal support and a legal system. I don't know about you. I'm not going to law school to learn all that stuff. And I'm not going to go onto some program online and trust somebody I've never heard of before to set me up. No, I'm gonna get. I'm gonna get a good attorney. Somebody locally, somebody that knows me, knows my business, takes the time and can help me grow. Okay? Very part of your team. That's the other part. Systems, okay? You're gonna need to set up systems. Otherwise you're doing all the work. Remember, is an S quadrant. In an E quadrant, you're part of somebody else's system. In the S quadrant, you are the system. So you don't pass the revolver test, which means if I shoot you, what happens to your system? It's gone, right? So you have to have systems. Systems like cash flow system, which I'll talk about in a second. You have to have accounting systems, tax payment systems, payment systems. You have to have marketing systems, selling systems, all, all kinds of systems that run without you, okay? That run without you. And it's too much for one person. Otherwise you stay an S and you only do what you can do and you handle it with. To assistance. That's not a brandable business. Nobody's going to invest in that business either. Nobody. No matter how good your idea is. What? Why? Because if you don't have any of this, they'll just rip off your idea and do it themselves. Why would they pay you anything? Understand? Okay, it's making sense again. It's all easy to do if you know the steps and you have the right mountain guys to take you up the mountain. The right gear, the right. I've said this before. The right gear, the right. The right. The right guides, the right attitude and the. And the right knowledge. Otherwise you will not make it up the mountain. You won't. You have the wrong gear, you don't have the right supplies, you run out of water. Now you're Stuck. Because you can't go up or down now. Okay. All right. What else do you need? Communications. What is that? That's marketing systems. That's selling systems. Selling scripts, sales training systems that train other people to sell for you. Right. You need a marketing machine. A machine that continually churns leads for your. For your business. Okay. Because. And cash flow. Cash flow systems. The biggest part, the most important part. If your communication, your marketing is good, your cash flow is also good. Because I don't know about you. I'm not in business to go broke. I want to help a lot of people, but I. If I can't sustain myself, there's no sense. That's why I started this call with oh my God. You know I'm working 24 7. Right? Because you don't understand this. So when you create your per chart then. So this is kind of the beginning of the per chart. Assuming if you. If you take a look. Okay. Notice the first step on this per chart. Team selection started. Up at the top up here. Let me change colors here. So up here. Product development team selected. Legal system started. Operation systems defined. Communication system selected. Sales process defined. Marketing team commenced. Financial cash management systems begun. And then so on and so forth. Brand. Brand management started. So now. And this thing will now move to the right. You know, we didn't fill in times and dates and all that because I just. I want you to understand that at the end of the day we did this with the Rich dad company. By the way, just very recently. See if I got that picture. Sorry, I don't mean to make you dizzy. Yeah, here it is. So with a series of. This is a little sloppy this one. But this. But this per chart is a multi million dollar perch. Are taking the. The. The Rich dad company from a very much of an S quadrant solo entrepreneur business to a global business. Now this is a. This is the global cash flow club game launch. Okay? So to automate and support cash flow clubs all over the world which will generate a tremendous amount of income and even more support for the cash flow clubs over there. Not. You don't need a big team. This is. That's Kim over there holding the dog. Okay? Kim Kiyosaki and her little team, they put this thing together and they're crushing it. As a matter of fact, when they did this per chart, work with them directly as some of you might want to do with us. Again, if you're interested in doing that, go to blairsinger.com forward/plan and we'll talk about that. But in in this case, they forecasted before they did a per chart. They had an idea, the dream, the project, the mission, but they had no plan. So they had the dream and they forecast that it was probably going to cost them, I don't know, three and a half million dollars in three years to build this, this system because of much of a software system. And so when they laid it all out, that's right, it came out that way. And they're going, oh my God, this is too long, too expensive. So overnight we thought about it, came back to the per chart on day two, looked at it, the chief of engineer of, of technology, which is this guy right here, right here and his buddy right here, okay. They said, we got a better idea? And they reached down onto this per chart and they ripped off about a third of these post it notes and replace them with other ones. Lo and behold, within about five minutes, they changed the project from three years and 3 million down to 18 months and less than a million dollars to put the whole thing together and contracted it out, blah, blah, blah. All that stuff that's building a B business. See, an S person would take forever to get this thing done. So that, anyway, that's, that's a per chart. That's what this looks like. Here's, here's another one, a sample of one that I've done. Okay, so again I ask you, what's the plan? What's the plan? So we come back up here, all the way back up here. I've covered a lot of material already. This is where we are. You've done your mission. You've got, you've done an honest assessment. Quite honestly, most entrepreneurs freeze right about here. They get, they get oops. They get this far and that's as far as it goes. Okay, we got our mission. We're clear what we want to do. And, and then they get to this part and they, and all of a sudden all the, the questions start popping up. Well, what about this? What about that? Wow, we don't know this, we don't know that. And then they quit or they just go back to being an S. The people that make it. I'm telling you that the most revolutionary tool I learned this tool, this per charting back in the early 1980s from one of the guys that originally designed it for the United States Navy. Actually, this idea, it's. And we don't even call it a plan, it's a pert. And I want you to start using this. If you want to go from S to B, you need a pert Well, I need a plan. You need a pert plant. Okay. Because Pert operates different than most plans. I gave you a quick overview. But it's designed for you to go through all the mental anguish, the mental problems, the challenges, the unknowns, the ahead of time. Before you start the project, before you start the project, knowing full well that you don't know all the things you need to know, you'll lay out a road map that just like when you climb Kilimanjaro, just like when you climb this thing, it's one step at a time, one step at a time until you get to the top. That's it. You don't run up this thing. You, you create a pert that will help you up there. Okay? So hopefully this has been of some value to you. This has been some value. Type in value in the chat box. Okay. Ah, we got people watching from Mumbai. Very nice. Long time, I don't see you. Nice to learn from you again. Thank you. Patricia. Very nice. And our friend from Vietnam. Very nice. Thank you. My idol. Geez Louise. Maybe you could find some other ones. But again, this is for those of you that really are serious about making this journey. Serious about making this journey. At the end of the day, at the end of the day, you have dreams and you deserve to have those dreams. And the world deserves to have you have those dreams. Because if you get those, it's going to benefit everybody else too. And the only reason you wouldn't do it is because you don't have a pert, you don't have a plan. And, and I've seen it thousands and thousands of times. I've actually helped people create perts that, but they could not get their mindset out of being a solo entrepreneur and they got sleepy, they went into overwhelm. I can't do it. It's too much. I'll find something else. And typically what happens is they just, they sell out for some either high paying job or just being willing to slave away for the rest of their lives and invest in something else. I'm going to tell you, the best investment you can make is in a business. It's the highest risk, but it's the biggest return. Nowhere in the world could you spend $20,000 on, you know, a planning process or marketing process or a selling system and generate a healthy six digit income within less than a year. Think about that. Put in. If you put $20,000 and you knew you could make back $150,000 in a year, would you do that all day long? You would do something like that. Okay? So the rewards are amazing, but you just don't get lucky and you just don't wing it. Okay? So you need a pertinent. So from now on, whenever you hear the word pert, you're going to say these words. I love it. So I'm going to say it right now. So wherever you are, I want you to say it out loud. Pert. Say, I love it. I love it. Pert. I love it. Okay, good. All right, good. So hopefully you got some. If you got some value out of this, type in value in the comment section. If you feel that you've learned a little bit, type in learn in the comment section. And. And again, we're going to. Next week, we'll actually go to step number four. What's step number four? Okay. You don't jump steps. This is a process, a linear process, but it's designed to release your creativity before you get started and allow you to see all the challenges and the obstacles up front. Okay. All right. Thank you. Thank you, Kenneth. I'm glad you learned something. If you have questions, comments again, please subscribe to the YouTube, our YouTube channel. This video and other videos just like it are up. Are going to be up there for you to look at, to study, to share with your friends. Subscribe. Subscribe to our YouTube channel. And again, if you want. If you want to really do this quickly and get some immediate support, go to blairsinger.com forward/plan, and we'll help you out. Okay? You need the right guide to get up the right mountain. You do that. Life is a legacy. What does that mean? Life is a legacy. That means you get to do what you want to do when you want to do it. The cash flow coming in without depending on you anymore. Why? Because you took the time to create it in advance. Okay. All right, you guys, you're awesome. I'll see you next week. Any questions? Put them in the comment section and we'll check them out. All right. Love you. Be awesome.
