Imposter Syndrome

Blair Singer says imposter syndrome is that voice telling you you're not good enough, and it stops trainers and coaches from reaching their potential. His fix: work intensively with one client, even free, to get a measurable result and prove to yourself you can do it.
What do you think is the number one fear that keeps most trainers and facilitators and coaches from being world class? Think about that for a second. I'll give you a hint. It's the same fear that keeps people with important messages, important knowledge and experience to share. Silent. And the problem with that is that they suffer because they don't get their message to the world. And the rest of the world suffers because they don't get the benefit of it. My name is Blair Singer. Some of you may know me as best selling author of three books in the area of sales, team and personal development. Rich dad advisor to Robert Kiyosaki. But over the last 15 to 20 years I have worked with tens of thousands of individuals to help them become world class presenters, trainers, teachers and coaches. Why? Because the world needs great teachers, leaders and coaches. Some of the best trainers that you know on some of the biggest stages in the world have been my students. So what is the fear? Have you guessed it yet? The fear is something I call the imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome. Now what does that mean? That means that there's a little voice in your head. You know the little voice I'm talking about, the one that just went. One little voice, that's the one that sometimes says, I'm not smart enough, I'm not good enough, I haven't earned the right yet. I'm not rich enough, I'm too fat, I'm too skinny, I'm too old, too young. All of that stuff that casts doubt. Have you ever had doubt about yourself? If you didn't say yes just now, you're lying. We all do and that happens. But the imposter syndrome, it can be debilitating because you don't feel that you've earned the right yet. So you walk on eggshells. You're not bold, you're not engaged, you're not direct. And it holds people back. Now the good news is there's a way through that. And there's a way through it very easily. Particularly if you're brand new. If you're brand new, new coach, new trainer. Find one client, one customer that you can work with and work 24, 7. Pull out all stops and get them a good result for free. Then when somebody asks you what you do, you can say, well, I'm a new coach, but first person I work with, we tripled their sales in 30 days. Is that something you're interested in? What's the person going to say? Of course I got to say yes, of course I'm interested. But the most important piece of doing that is it gives you confidence in you because you know under your belt you produced a result. Now, there's other things to do to work past your fear about what other people think about you. But the short term solution is to go out there and deliver and get a couple results under your belt. You don't need a lot, you don't need years, you only need one get started.
