Learn How to Brag -- Yes, Brag! -- to Boost Your Confidence

A short motivational talk by Blair Singer teaching a 10–15 second solo ‘bragging’ technique to instantly boost confidence and override negative self-talk. Singer describes rules (be loud, outrageous, and even fabricate claims) and emphasizes doing it privately to change physiological state (adrenaline, energy, sensory acuity) and ‘fake it till you make it’ mindset.
Hi, this is Blair Singer, author of Little Voice Mastery and How to Win the War between years in 30 seconds or less and a founding contributor to Radical Wealth. You know, sometimes our confidence does erode. And I'm going to give you a little voice technique that your little voice isn't going to like. I'm going to give you a little voice technique that truly works. But your little voice is going to scream like. Like the daisies, because you're not going to like this one. Here's what it is. If you want to instill confidence in your body and change your mindset instantly, it's called bragging. That's right, bragging. Now, notice what your little voice just said when I said bragging. You said, I was taught not to brag.
I don't want to be boastful, blah.
Blah, blah, all that stuff. That's exactly why you should do it. Now, I'm not saying you should brag in public or brag in front of other people. This is a technique you do by yourself with nobody else around, because anybody watching you will think you're a little bit crazy, which you are. But that's why you're committed to radical wealth and why you're committed to having the life you want to have. So all it is is about a 10, 15 second drill in which you just get up and beat your chest if you need to and brag. Now, here are the rules. Rules is you need to be loud, you need to be outrageous. And in this case, not in any other case, but in this case, you do not have to tell the truth. That's right. You can lie. You can make a whole. Fabricate the whole thing. So, for example, if I were going to brag, I could say something like.
I'm the greatest golfer on planet Earth. I taught Tiger woods how to golf. I get a whole one every single time. Everybody comes to me for endorsements because I'm the greatest golfer in the world.
See, now, none of that is true. But immediately changes my state. Now, two things happen. First of all, the adrenaline starts pumping, and right now your little boy is going. Singer has gone off the edge. Finally. But the truth of it is, there's a second component to this. You have to override your little voice that says, I can't be boastful. I can't talk about myself.
I'm embarrassed to even say that in.
Front of myself, because if you can overcome that. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Your concern about what other people think or your concern about what you think about yourself if it's negative is what stands in your way. Mac Newton always talks about your self concept. Sometimes you have to fake it till you make it. Now again, I'm not advocating lying. I'm not advocating anything. This is a special technique, 10 to 15 seconds long, that if you do it, I guarantee you your sensory acuity is going to go up, your adrenaline is going to be pumping, your, your energy is going to be higher and for some strange reason, all those doubts that were in your brain are going to be pushed to the side. Try it. I think you're going to like it. Be awesome.
