A short YouTube monologue by Blair Singer presenting three leadership/teaching criteria learned from Buddhist monks: (1) deliver relevant information, (2) deliver it in an engaging way, and (3) embody authenticity—"walk the talk"—as a leader or facilitator. The speaker frames these as practical, repeatable criteria for becoming a world-class trainer, speaker, or leader.
If you want to be a great teacher, leader, facilitator. The Buddhist monks that I studied with years ago at the Dharmakaya Temple in Thailand said something very profound to me. They said it's three criteria. Number one, what information are you delivering? Is it relevant? But more importantly than that is how do you deliver it? Does it engage? Is it interesting? Does it make people feel like they're learning something? But number three, what the most important criteria that they said is how you show up as a human being. Are you the real deal? Do you walk the talk? Are you actually experiencing or have you experienced what it is you're trying to relate to other people, particularly in a teaching environment? These are three criteria that you and I can all practice and all become world class trainers, speakers, leaders and facilitators by following those three criteria. What are you talking about? Is it relevant the way you do it? Is it engaging? And number three, who you show up as a leader with.
