A short motivational monologue by Blair Singer asserting that discipline—defined as doing what you should when you should, consistently—is more important than innate attributes (talent, looks, age) for long-term success. Singer urges daily routines and discipline as the reliable path to outlasting and outperforming others; he closes with the exhortation, 'Be amazing.'
This is why most goal setting fails. Try this instead. You may think to yourself, I'm not that smart, I'm not that talented, I'm not that good looking, I'm not that old, young or whatever. And you think that that's holding you back. But I'll tell you one thing is that you may not have all any of those things, but what you can have and what you can apply that will give you the most success in the world is this one word. The word is discipline. It's doing what you're supposed to be doing when you're supposed to be doing it, whether you like it or not. It's a daily routine, it's a workout. It's something that you discipline yourself to do every single day. And I will guarantee if you do that you will outlast and out succeed everybody. You may not have all the talent but what you got is discipline. Be amazing.
