Blair Singer shares four steps for better goal-setting: get clear on what you want, pick your top three reasons why, break it into manageable sub-goals, and map it visually with a timeline. He draws from 35 years of experience in sales and investing.
How do you set goals? Well, conventional wisdom says smart goals. You know, smart, specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time bound. I got it. But let me give you another view of this. After 35 years of working with people and setting amazing goals and watching them get them. Number one, clarity. Clarity of what you want. What do you want first? Number two, a whole list of reasons why and pick your top three. Otherwise you'll give up when the going gets tough. Number three, set a sub goal so I don't set one too big that becomes overwhelming to you. Number four, a visual plan, post it notes or whatever. A visual plan of the step by step process that going to get you to your goal and put that under a timeline. Put those things together, you will regain the steering wheel of your own life. Be amazing.
