Where in Life Are You Compromising Your Own Values?

Blair Singer (author of Little Voice Mastery) gives a short personal-development talk about the concept of “exchange.” He argues that authentic outward exchanges (money, relationships, health) depend on being fully congruent with one’s core values and being ‘in exchange’ with oneself; compromising values blocks exchange and reduces resources and opportunities.
You. Hi, this is Blair Singer, best selling author of Little Voice Mastery. Over the last year, I've been spending a lot of time, as you probably all know, working on me. Because one thing I learned many years ago is the one thing in common with the money I've made, money I lost relationships that worked and didn't, was me that I had something to do with it. And the reason I wrote Little Voice Mastery is because it's a summation of 20 plus years of personal development training for me. And so I'm always working on what is the next issue for me. Because I always say that the reward for solving a problem is a bigger problem to solve. That's the way the market works. But that's also what keeps you driving. Keeps me driving. One of the things that I've been working on this last year is the word exchange. Now you may think you know exchange, and I thought I knew exchange too. But when I started digging into exchange, because obviously we want to have exchange for the things we do, you give up, provide a service, you would like money for it, you provide time, you want resources back. We all like to be in exchange. You give love, you receive love. That all makes sense. But here's what I didn't understand. What I didn't understand is that exchange goes much deeper. Very difficult to be in exchange financially with the world if you or me, if I'm not in exchange with myself. That's right. Ask yourself, where in your life are you possibly compromising your own values? Where are you kind of sliding the scale into the gray area a little bit just to get by? Could it be with your health, could it be with your finance, could it be with your partners? And what I realized that if I want, in order to get the exchange to open the floodgates of money, of resource to, to me, that I had to move myself to a point where I was 100% congruent with who I am, with who I am at a very core level, what I stand for, what my values are. Because if I'm compromising those, I am out of exchange with me. And if I'm out of exchange with me, then that ripples out into the world around you. For some reason, even though people may like you, they may not want to be in exchange with you, they may feel that they can get something for nothing from you. And I'm sure that's not what you want. So think about it. Think about exchange. Probably one of the biggest problems on the planet today, as my teacher Alan Walter said, is the world is out of exchange. We're out of exchange with each other, but mostly out of exchange with ourselves. When you get to be the real you, authentically real with no holes barred, completely transparent and honest with yourself, think what it would be like if every move you made, every decision you made, you felt 100% congruent and good about it. How cool would that be? There's no possible way that the world won't open its floodgates of resources, of love, of relationship to you, and of health. So exchange is an important topic. I advise you to take a look.
