A short motivational monologue by Blair Singer about the ‘little voice’ or inner critical/reactionary mind. Singer urges listeners to recognize that this inner voice is not the true self, to step outside that conversation, and to view the negative self-talk as if it were spoken to someone else in order to gain awareness and freedom from reactive patterns.
Think about this. If that little voice in your head. You know the little voice I'm talking about? The one that went. What little voice? That little voice. If that little voice were talking to your best friend the way it talks to you sometimes, would you still be best friends with that other person? What did you just do? What did I just do? See, your little voice is not the real you. It's your reactive mind. It's what's going on based on old memories, old advice, things. Things that get you emotionally upset. And what happens is, you forget that that little voice is not the real you. So the minute you step out of it and look at your little voice as if it were talking to somebody else, you've just taken yourself outside of this nasty conversation. You become aware of you. You're not in the battle. You're outside the battle. And what every guru and what every spiritual leader will tell you for centuries and centuries is the minute you can get outside of that conversation, get outside yourself.
