A short reflective monologue about the difficulties of becoming a professional creative. The speaker argues that belief (faith) and accumulating evidence (actions/results) are both required to see oneself as a creative professional, and warns that personal growth can shift relationships—sometimes forcing difficult conversations or the choice to grow apart in service of creative goals.

Seeing yourself as a professional creative is hard. And believing that you can become one will take two things. One is faith. Faith that you are supposed to be doing this. And two is evidence. Evidence that you are the kind of person that actually does this, that actually takes the right steps. More evidence starts to build up. The more we grow, the more our relationships start to shift around us. And this is scary because your family and friends may start to question what you're doing. When your priorities no longer align with theirs. They may start to see this as a bad thing. And with these types of relationships, we really do have to make a choice. Do you stay and let their fear and lack of understanding keep you from moving forward? Or do you grow, even if it means growing away from someone that you used to be close to so you can be closer to your goals? And remember, it's not their fault. A lot of times they just do it out of love. But you still have to make the call. You still have to have the hard conversation and make the hard choice.
