Marc Anthony said, if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
I've been in the music industry for the past 15 years and professionally for the past 10. I've always believed that if we choose to pursue what we love to do, like really choose it, put our whole heart into it, the world would be in balance. Maybe not perfectly, but a lot closer than what it is today.
Bits of the world at times seem.
To have found that balance, and this weekend was a reminder of that for me.
Now, big chunks of 10 of those 15 years that I've been in the industry were spent as a member of the band Haha Tonka.
This past weekend we were invited to.
Play the wedding of Amanda and Raul in Miami, Florida. Now I've never been to Miami and.
We never got to go there as.
A band and I haven't seen these guys in quite some time.
So this was a real treat for.
Me to be a part of. I arrived Friday night with just enough time to make it to the pre wedding dinner and have a night on the town with a bunch of people that I haven't seen in forever.
We made it to the pool the next morning.
Soaked up some rays, and.
Prepared ourselves for the remainder of what would be an incredible weekend.
Music shapes our lives, even if we're only appreciators of it. And without the appreciators, we musicians might have no real reason to create.
To see Amanda and Raul hold what we've done and what the band continues to do at such a value that they would hire us to be a part of their day was a huge, huge honor.
And what I found is the longer.
I've been doing music, the more I realize how it's helped sculpt the life that I live today.
One that for all its stresses, is still peppered with some of the most fun work that anyone could think of.
There wasn't one person that I knew at the wedding that I hadn't met because of music. Our career path has woven this crazy web of people and places that allow me to not only do what I love, but love the people that I experience it with.
And just before I left, I ended.
Up on the pier having this great conversation with a man I'd never met before. He told me, you're doing great. Just remember, the only person that can get in your way is you. So I encourage you this week as well as myself to stay out of our own way. Go after what you love with everything you got.
One day you may wake up and realize that your work and life are in balance because they're one and the same.
