In 2020, I lost my job as a restaurant worker with my first daughter on the way. I was a scared, lost 21-year-old and I was running out of options. But in just a few years, I found something that completely altered the course of my life and it made me $42,000 in a single month. And now it allows me to support my family, but more importantly, support my daughter. And best of all, I was able to show my parents that it is in fact possible to make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year without a college degree. My name is Alex Beck. And this is my story. Chapter 1: Early Life Struggles. So I grew up in Southern California, and I was born to my parents who had me very, very young. They were high school age. My dad was in construction and my mom was a receptionist. We didn't have much, but they always did their best to support me. Once I graduated high school, I decided to not go to college, and because of that, my parents decided to kick me out of the house. I started working odd jobs and ultimately started working in a restaurant. I'm sure you guys all remember COVID and all the stuff that was happening. But what ended up happening for me is I lost my job and I had to move back home. On top of that, within 2 weeks of me moving back home, I found out I was having a daughter. I remember thinking, how the hell could I support a child if I can't even support myself? It was a lot of pressure and I was extremely scared. All I knew was that I wanted to give my daughter a better life. I remember every single night I would drive to the top of this hill and I would journal. I would write down what I want my life to look like, how I want to be as a father, and more importantly, the type of life I wanted to give my daughter. I really didn't know what I needed to do at the time, but I knew I had to sprint. So during that time, I decided to pick up a couple more jobs working in restaurants. I was working 6 days a week, 12-hour days. I knew that wasn't it for me, and I knew if I continued down that same path, my daughter was going to end up living the same life that I did as a child. I rarely saw her, and she was in daycare 12 hours a day. So that led to to number 2, let's try starting my own online business. I figured if I could make money from home while working from my laptop, not only will I be making enough money to support my child, but I'll also be able to give her my time. I was always into business, but I never had the guts to go down that path. And the first thing that I tried was e-commerce. I remember back in 2021, I was watching this video of Alex Hormozi and he was talking about some 19-year-old kid on his sales team that was making over $20,000 per month. And I thought, well, shit, if he could do it, then so could I. I didn't know anything about sales, but I wanted in. So after seeing that video, I decided immediately that I'm going to apply for a role at Gym Launch, which was Alex Hormozi's company at the time. Funny enough, I couldn't find the way to apply. So what I ended up doing was booking a call. They thought that I was a gym owner coming onto the call and I showed up, young 21-year-old kid, no facial hair, with a button-up in my mom's living room. They must have seen something in me or seen how hungry that I was to do something with myself. The person decided to start passing my information up the ladder. I knew nothing about sales and they decided to give me the shot. Here's a side note: if you want to land a good sales role with zero sales experience, it's not about your prior work history. It's about the person who's interviewing you to truly believe that you are someone who could come onto the team and learn quickly. You need to be likable and you need to be coachable. Now, obviously, I landed the role and they decided to bring me on the team as a cold caller. My job was to cold call gym owners and book them for a podcast called the Gym Lords. What I learned throughout that experience was don't focus on selling, focus on providing value. And within 30 days, I was making more as a setter on a bad month at Gym Launch compared to my best months working in restaurants and doing e-commerce. Now, as I grew on the team, I became pretty close with that 20-year-old kid that I saw in Hormozy's video that was making $20K a month as a closer. I remember he was from Texas, and at one point he came down to LA and he invited me out to dinner. His name is Jacob. And at the time, all I was thinking was, God, you know, I don't want to go to dinner with him and have him pay for the meal. You know, he was a little bit younger than me to the point where he set himself at like a higher level of authority and so forth compared to me. And I thought back to this video I saw on YouTube. It was a dating coach, and he said, if you take Kim Kardashian on a dinner, you don't take her to a 5-star restaurant. You take her to a place where she is out of her comfort zone. If anything, you should take her to a taco truck in the hood where her only place of comfort is by being next to you. I know it sounds a little odd, but what I decided to do was to tell Jacob, hey bro, let's not do dinner. Instead, let's go surfing. I figured, hey, I'm a California kid, he lives in Texas, he's probably never surfed in his life, so let's take him out of his comfort zone. Funny enough, at the time I haven't surfed in like 10 years, so I had to go buy a surfboard, buy a wetsuit, that way I could take this kid Jacob surfing. And you guys, one of the craziest parts of that story was that Jacob was 1,000 times better at surfing than me. But anyways, the reason why that story is important was because Jacob was the one who introduced me to Iman Gadzhi. I remember we were sitting on the sand after I got my ass whooped by waves and Jacob completely outshowed me with surfing. And he told me about this guy, Iman Gadzhi. I had no idea who he was, but supposedly closers on his team were making $10,000, $15,000, $20,000 per month. So I decided, hey, I'll give him a follow on Instagram. A couple months later, I was still working at Gym Launch and I saw Iman posted on his Instagram story that he was looking to hire a closer. With on-target earnings of $10,000, $20,000 per month. So I decided to apply anyways. I ended up landing the role. I believe there was 2,000 applicants and I was the only person that got hired to the team. But looking back at it, I don't think I was a unicorn. And that was the reason why I was one out of over 2,000 people to get brought on. It was because I understood how to build relationships, how to be likable. It was a bit of a risk, to be honest, you know, switching from Gym Launch to going to Iman's team. Gym Launch was doing $10 million $15 million per month some months, while Iman at the time was a lot smaller of a company. But I took the risk because I truly believed in Iman and his product. And when I started on the team, I started getting good. Within my first 15 months working with Iman, I closed over $2 million in cash. I remember on my third month working with Iman, I closed over $350,000 for the company. And I took home a $35,000 check. I showed my dad and he genuinely could not believe it. He thought the check said $3,500. It was a proud moment for me. It was full circle. It proved to me that not only was I going down the right path, but there was a lot more money to make online compared to going the direction of working some random ass 9 to 5. As the months went on, my highest commission month with Iman was over $42,000. Through my time of working for Alex Hormozi, plus working for Iman, I saw that there was a lack of quality education for both setters and closers in the space. Sales changed my life. It allowed me to help my parents out and support my daughter in a way that I never thought I'd be able to. While I was working with Iman, I was coaching so many agency owners with their sales process and them closing deals that I realized I was just as good at teaching sales as I was closing deals. And once I left Iman's team, I built such a good relationship with a lot of people that purchased his programs that I was getting endless DMs of people asking me to help them with sales. And so I started doing it for free. Now, at this point, I don't work for Iman. I don't work for Alex anymore. What I decided to do was start helping people land really good sales roles and then coach them to make sure that they succeed in the role. And honestly, I have been shocked at seeing how quickly people have been getting results. For example, like one of my students, Mark Miller, he had zero sales experience. I trained him for 2 weeks and got him to land a closing role where closers are making over $20,000 per month. And also Lou, who is from Florida and he is 19 years old. He had zero sales experience and I got him on Andy Elliott's company where setters are making over $10,000 per month. Or even Owen. Owen had a year of sales experience before we met and he worked at 4 different companies. His biggest month was just a little bit over $3,000 as a closer. He cleared his biggest month in his first 2 weeks on a new sales role. Listen, I am thankful that I took the long route of trial and error for getting into sales. But if I had to start all over, I would have went straight into selling. And what I learned is that the vehicle, the opportunity, the offer, and the company that you're on is the most important thing. I truly believe if you're on a good company, anybody can make $10,000 a month with sales. So if you're inspired by this story and want to get involved with sales, I have a program for both the aspiring sales reps, but also current sales reps where you could work with me directly. If you're interested in learning more, I don't know, click the link in the description or something. But even if not, that is okay. I have a lot more free content coming in the future, so I will see you in the next video.
