Someone with ADHD can hyperfocus on a sport they love and pour 1,000% effort into it. The ADHD brain constantly chases dopamine through novel, stimulating experiences. That drive and intense concentration become a real advantage in athletics.

How ADHD is a blessing when it comes to sports performance. Sports performance can be enhanced by ADHD because our brain chemistry is focused on always finding more dopamine. One of the main ways we find dopamine are new and interesting experiences and hyper-focusing on things that really interest us that we're really good at. So for instance, if you love swimming, when you're in the pool, the rest of the world gets turned off. Having this level of focus also gives us high energy. So along with being able to really be immersed in the sport, we also have extra energy that we're 1,000% putting into the activity that we're doing.
