If you have ADHD, you might need to parent yourself. By that, what I mean is that we are much more prone to things like addiction and risky behaviors. You can prevent the downsides of risky behaviors by planning ahead or organizing for that. The things that we've talked about before with exercising, eating well, getting enough sleep, anything that boosts the brain is going to help you. But the main thing is to maybe think about anchors. What kind of bad or risky behaviors do you engage in that afterwards you're kind of Why did I do that? So this can help you to catch yourself before you do this instead of afterwards going, I'm a knucklehead. I should have understood how to do that. So think about anchors of what are some things when you know you are approaching a behavior that could be risky that can help you kind of have a positive trigger of, oh, I'm going to pause, or I'm going to have some other idea already planned of what you can shift to. So when that happens, you know exactly what you want to do to help yourself out.
