Bridger Pennington argues parents should teach kids to talk to adults, citing Jordan Peterson's advice. He ordered his own food at restaurants as a child, a skill many 12-year-olds today lack because their parents still do it for them.
Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules of Life, one of the things he talks about, like, in there, he actually specifically says, teach your kids how to communicate with adults. It makes them stand out more than anything else. Your kids can learn how to talk to and communicate to teachers, to coaches, to other— they'll get extra help, they'll get extra credit, they'll be able to advance in a lot of other ways that they can't otherwise.
So talk to me about how you're working on helping your kid or planning on helping your kids to talk to adults.
My parents, at least, Um, did a good job. I was the youngest kid. They made me always order my own food. They made me check out with my own food. Um, I see parents, you know, they got a 12-year-old kid and they're ordering for their 12-year-old kid, and I'm just like, man, what a disservice.
