Bridger Pennington explains how to network on social media without annoying people. Don't DM strangers who've never engaged with you. Don't ask someone to pick their brain. Lead with value instead: make introductions, host events, or offer something useful first.

These are my dos and don'ts of social media networking. All of us have messages and DMs from somebody with big boobs trying to get you to invest in their crypto account. Advice to you, first off, do not invest in those accounts. But here's a few things of dos and don'ts for social media networking. Number 1, do not message me or DM me if you have never liked or engaged with any of my content. Don't tell me I'm a huge fan of yours if I've never seen you comment or post on anything that I have done. Everyone posting online likes, likes, and especially comments, and you can stand out very easily with a great comment on a post. Number 2, always try to add value first. If I DM someone with a huge laundry list of things I want from them, I'm just trying to give them more work. Try to lead with value first. You can do that with introductions, hosting events, or something else personal to that person. And finally, do not ask to pick my brain. It's one of the worst value propositions in the history of social media networking. Like and follow for more fun content.
