I Used to Suck At Being on Camera

Bridger Pennington was terrible on camera until a mentor told him to record 30 solo episodes. Around 25 to 30 recordings, creators find their voice. Most people quit before they get there.

I used to suck at being on camera and doing videos. And there's probably a couple of you that still think I suck at doing this. But I had a mentor tell me, Bridger, go and record 30 episodes of a show, just you talking, and go post it. And that idea totally freaked me out. And he said, no, Bridger, guess what? No one's going to listen to it. No one knows who you are. No one has a following. But what it will do is help you develop a voice with a microphone and a camera. It usually takes 25 to 30 episodes to really find your voice and what you're going to talk about. And he said, if you don't like it, you can just delete it always. But there's something about publishing and putting it out there. So back in 2018, we started publishing little videos on our podcast. And guess what? I sucked and I sucked a little bit less and then a little bit less until I kind of got a little bit good and okay. And now to this point, I feel like I'm pretty decent on camera. The problem is most people are unwilling to suck enough times to actually get good at something.
