An entrepreneur and fund manager shares two habits: imagining a Netflix documentary crew filming your life to stay intentional, and each morning identifying three high-impact tasks to tackle first in deep focus. He cites Jeff Bezos on limiting daily decisions to one or two to avoid fatigue.

So starting off today's episode, I want to share a quote that kind of changed my life the last week of how I've thought about what I'm doing every day and helped me live more intentional. I'm actually going to walk through a few things I do to stay productive and get more done out of my day. Now, there's hundreds of things you can do. These are a few things that have helped me, and I think they've been pretty productive. The first one is a quote I actually heard from Joe Rogan, and I love Joe Rogan's podcast, love his stuff, and he said this. He said, imagine a film crew is following you around all day and documenting your success over, you know, 7, 10 years for a Netflix documentary that's gonna come out one day? And he goes, I bet you'll act differently. And I actually took that to heart. The last, even today, I was thinking about, now what if there was a documentary crew filming what I was doing right now? And they're trying to get good content, seeing my success path, my journey, and how intentional I was. You think differently. It's interesting how you think and how it changes things. I wanna start off with that quote 'cause I thought it was a pretty cool way to think about life. Secondly though is something I learned from a great mentor of mine, taught me this principle and it changed how I think about my days. A lot of us have a big, long to-do list each day. Especially entrepreneurs, fund managers, we have this whole to-do list. It's X, Y, Z, and then A, B, C, D. You go down this whole list of all these micro tasks you need to get done. And finally, this mentor of mine, he came, he said, Bridger, usually every day there's 2 to 3 things that are big dominoes that if you pushed those over or figured out that problem, it would move the needle a lot faster than doing 50 micro things. He goes, Bridger, every day, this is what I do. I write down 3 things on my to-do list. So I have a to-do list, I break it up. I have my 3 big dominoes right at the beginning, then I have this like whole laundry list of to-do things. And he goes, the 3 big dominoes I make sure to do first, because he's like, I'm most active in the morning. I wake up, I shower, I work out, I'm at working at my desk, you know, certain time, let's call it 9 AM, and I start on project number 1 right then. And I get— I try to get into the flow. I turn off myself, I'm not getting distracted, I get into the zone of that one problem, and I think through it. I figure I don't push it back, I don't go to some committee, I think through it and I make a decision. If you guys have read the book Think and Grow Rich, wealthy people make decisions quickly. And he said I'm gonna look at that problem, I make decisions quickly on it and effectively, and I'm gonna implement it. And he goes, I usually fit about an hour on that one. So surprisingly, you can get done in an hour when you really focus. You turn off all distractions, emails off, notifications, everything's off. 1 hour on a problem, maybe it's 2, maybe it's 3 hours, whatever your— how big your problem is. And then he steps into this problem number 2 and problem number 3, and he says every day before noon he tries to finish all 3 of those tasks. Now, he— on his to-do list, it's The three tasks are today. I'm gonna get these done or I'm gonna die. Like that's how he thinks about it, and I've started to implement that. And that's right now. I'm actually filming this video at I don't know nine p.m. because filming today's video is actually on my to-do list. One of my three tasks I didn't get done in the morning. I got delayed. I got a phone call. Something else interrupted me. It's nine p.m. and I'm like, okay, this was I was either gonna die or do this today. And it's a pretty interesting way to move the needle faster in your life. Now this video is not gonna move the needle a ton for me personally, but it was on my one of my top three things to do. So I got that done. Now once I get those three things done, then I move. onto my daily to-do list and worked on that. And you guys know to-do lists, sometimes you get to something, sometimes you push things off. And I'm more relaxed on myself on that to-do list. But those 3 things every day are crucial. Jeff Bezos, a quote from him, he was actually saying, he goes, guys, every day I make about 1 to 2 very crucial decisions a day. And I don't have the mental strength to make 500 decisions, 50, 150 decisions a day. 'Cause you get decision fatigue, right? It's like if your kids come up to you and they're nagging you about buying you something at the grocery store, they ask you enough times, you're probably just like, Screw it, just take the can. Like, I don't care, just take it, right? You get decision fatigue, and Jeff Bezos said, I make sure to not have decision fatigue. I only focus on 1 to 2 big decisions I have to make every single day, and when I make them, I make them. I go all in. And I thought it was very interesting, and I think a lot of us, because we're entrepreneurs, because we have to wear 30 hats, we run around doing this big long to-do list, and we very rarely prioritize those things and make a point to do just 1, 2, maybe 3 at the most big things that'll move the needle. So, my invite, my challenge to you today is to try that out. Tomorrow morning, write down three big. I mean, I'm talking big dominoes, things you got to get done for the day, and do them or die. And then secondly, the quote that I mentioned at the beginning is: Imagine there's a documentary crew behind you filming your entire life and what you accomplish, what you don't accomplish. I think it'll move the needle faster in your life. Today's a shorter episode, but I wanted to share those two things. Those are those are two things that I've you know really really actionable, to the point, productive things that have helped move the needle for my life, and I hope you guys enjoy it.
