Myron Golden's exercise shows your biggest expense is ignorance: the gap between what you earned last year and a million dollars. Taxes come second. Once you learn to make a million, you can do it again, which is why millionaires who lose everything often rebuild it.
Chapters
Myron Golden loves this one. He goes, write down on a piece of paper how much money you made last year. If you haven't made $1 million in a year yet, write in $1 million at the top. And he writes out $1 million and he shares a story of how he made his first million and how much he had to pay down ignorance debt. And he goes, okay, so let's say someone in this room, you're doing well, you made $250,000 last year, write that on the page. So he writes $1 million, then he writes $250,000. And then he says, that difference, $750,000, is what you paid last year because you didn't know how to make $1 million. He frames the beginning, what's your 2 biggest expenses? Your second is taxes. What's your biggest expense? And everyone writes down this stuff. He goes, your biggest expense is ignorance, is not knowing how to make $1 million. It's all about knowledge. Once people make $1 million in their life or $2 million or $5 million, they can make it again. It's really interesting. Like, you see these millionaires, they make tons of money, then they lose it all, then they make it again. Why? Because they learned the lessons of how to make millions of dollars. What's funny is I actually got closed on that exact pitch.
