In this solo YouTube monologue, Brooke Richey explains how vocal expression can unlock and release deep‑seated muscular tension that she attributes to repressed anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotions. She describes a personal technique: when she feels tension (e.g., in her jaw), she mentally asks the tension what it is trying to say, identifies the underlying feeling, and then speaks the opposite statement, thereby “rewiring” the subconscious. She links this vocal work to a physical response observed during a routine microcurrent facial—normally a mild tingling, but this time producing nonstop muscle contractions and widespread tingles after she voiced the release. Richey emphasizes that the voice functions as an internal instrument and “organ of the soul,” claiming that this method gave her relief from a 22‑year‑long issue. The talk is motivational, anecdotal, and framed as a call to try voice work rather than dismiss it.

Okay, so here is the power of voice work. Your voice can transform your muscles' ability to move. Here's what I mean. When you hold tension in your jaw, in your face, in the muscles in your face, that is actually repressed anxiety, depression, and emotions, and probably trauma. That needs to be sorted out, that needs to be spoken, because this is, this is the moving mechanism of your voice, right? In an event of trauma, when your voice shut down, you don't speak the things that need to be said. You hold it all in. You don't use these things in your face. Okay, so keep tracking with me. Over the last few days, I was able to find 2 major roadblocks and identify those and what the feeling was behind the tension in my face. What you do, you ask the tension what it's trying to say. You actually narrow in, you, on the spot in your body, that could be anywhere. For me, it was my jaw. And I asked myself, I asked the tension, What are you trying to say? What is this feeling trying to say? And when I found out what it was trying to say, I realized I could then counteract it by saying the opposite. This is where the rewiring, the subconscious rewiring comes in. This is where all the science stuff comes in of rewiring your subconscious mind with just your voice. Okay, so get this. I do this. I've been doing this the last few days. I've been rewiring it, rewiring it, rewiring it. I have been going to my esthetician for Facials at the spa for a year now. We have been using the same setting for a microcurrent application, and in doing it today on the same setting that we've been using for the last year, where going over the muscles in my face, it's like, oh, I feel the tingles, it's nice. It's nothing crazy. There's nothing crazy happening. I go in today and it is just Nonstop contractions and like sporadic just tingles all over the place. Just because I spoke the words that this feeling of tension needed to be released. This is the power of voice work. Don't knock it till you try it. Your voice is the instrument. In your body. It's the organ of your soul. It determines everything you say on the inside is what comes out in the external. So seriously, don't knock it till you try it, because the relief that I have now— 22 years I've needed it.
