5 Million Year Old Energy tips (That are even better than coffee)

Bunny Young, a business therapist, explains what horses can teach us about managing energy and staying calm. Horses have survived 5 million years by maintaining neutral spines and resting in herds, practices that beat coffee for actual renewal. She recommends meditation, journaling, and real rest over constant pushing.

In this episode, I am going to have the pleasure of sharing with you on a topic that we have talked about before on energy. But this time I'm about to give you a 5 million year old secret to energy. So let's get to it. So humans have been roaming this earth for approximately 200,000 years. But there is a being that has been roaming this earth for over 5 million years and that is the resident expert on energy. In fact, they use energy in order to communicate, in order to figure out if they're safe or not, in order to move their entire companies around to better locations, find resources and all of that. And one of the reasons that I wanted to share them with with you today is to talk about their natural ability to renew their energy rather than just expend their energy. When we think about energy as humans, sometimes we get caught up in the how we can do more, how we can have more, how we can put out more energy. But the opposite side of that equation is ways that in which we can restore and recover and renew. And so if you haven't figured it out already, it's a special guest that is normally a part of these episodes at least once every six episodes. I can't help myself. Welcome to the episode of Horses. So horses and business. What does that have to do with anything? Well, you see, horses are part of a herd and in order to survive in a herd, they have to work together effectively. When you're working with a horse, you, you have to use your energy because they don't speak English. And this relationship is built around your energy. And so if you have an anxious energy about you, you're a predator animal. And if you're working with this prey animal, they're naturally going to be concerned about what it is that this predator is concerned about. I also want to point out, just look at my face while I am doing this. This activity is something that brings me so much joy, so much renewal. And I think one of those reasons is because it causes me to be completely and totally present. Obviously I'm not going to be texting while riding. I have to put my trust into this being and it is like the most intimate relationship that you can think of in your life because that horse weighs ten times as much as I do. And I have to make sure that all of my communication and all of my focus is extremely present in order to make that relationship successful. Now just take a step back and think about that in business and how often we do that. And so when you combine that with me being on a horse and me being at the super secret location that I had in my energy video from a couple weeks ago, this one, just in case you missed it, I'll put the link here that then you get something that looks like this. You can see energetically. Just look at the fact that the horse is pretty straight from the tip of their forelock, which is this awesome little bangs up here all the way to the poll, which is the tip of their tail. So from front to back, the horse is straight. So I am kind of a nerd when it comes to horses. But when I'm teaching individuals and companies and teams about working with horses, it's not that I'm teaching them about how to train a horse, it's that I'm teaching them about energy awareness. And so for a horse to have a neutral spine, it means that the horse is calm and relaxed. If they hear a predator, then they're going to pick up their head. If they're scared or have a high energy or are confused or anything like that, they're going to pick up their head. If they're going to fall asleep and relax, they're going to drop their head below neutral. And so having a neutral spine on a horse is a very great baseline to be in your relationship. And so what does a neutral look like energetically, a baseline look like energetically for you on a day to day basis to get there and to even start there, most of us wake up and the first thing that we do is raise our heads because we're checking our phone and immediately starting to firefight to emails. So how can you wake up each morning and start start with that neutral spine? It may mean that it takes you a little bit of work through meditation, through journaling, through yoga, through exercise in order to even maybe start your day at a little bit lower of a baseline in anticipation that you may end up with some high energy expectations throughout the day. I think that I have some of the best rides on the beach because of the energy that I have when I'm able to be calm and, and be present and be relaxed, but also stay in tune with this horse that I'm trusting. My bubble is one big bubble with the horses, if I'm doing it correctly. And that's the same thing in a relationship or a partnership in with your family. And what we're seeing right now is a lot of bubble on bubble action. Not to be too intimate because we're going to keep this rooted. G When we're thinking about homeschooling, we're thinking about working remotely. It's having a lot more of inner energetic interaction with other human beings than maybe we're used to. And energetically interacting with individuals virtually is something that it could be new for us. And I think one of the funnest things about being able to know the importance of horses in my life is the fact that I even brought them into my wedding and to start our relationship off not just with. With the trust between us, but the trust of our horses as well. It was a representation of being able to have that partnership. And my hope is that my partnership with my husband can be as successful, as honest, as open, as trusting as when I am riding a horse that understands my needs and that I have respect for and that we are able to have that communication back and forth. Because sometimes it's the non verbal communication and the non verbal energy that our bodies are giving off and that we are not listening to ourselves. And so how can we expect those around us to really be able to listen? There's also what I've talked about of energy leaks and so identifying your energy leaks in your life and in your workspace and how to fix those. And so make sure that you go back and watch that video if you happen to miss that video. And of course, definitely make sure that you go back and subscribe because I want to make sure that you get all of the videos that you need in order to be successful energetically and otherwise thinking about how we are interacting with others around us. It's one of the main reasons that I bring teams out to a ranch and we do this all over the world. And I've had the opportunity to bring probably over a hundred teams at this point out to ranches and be able to share with them what it means to be truly successful as a herd. And this is a horse that has now integrated and is trusting this group of predators, if you think about it, and walking with them and being a part of them. And so when you think about it when you're hiring somebody or when you're acquiring a new client, what's the trust and the energy and the communication in order for that to be successful? We've all had that energetic interaction with a salesman who is too pushy with their energy and how it makes us feel is to pull back. And so if I brought a team out of sales, individuals that were just going to, and this has happened, push the horse, the energy will actually physically move the horse across the pasture, and the horse will not join up with that group of individuals. But if you can have a welcoming, peaceful, calm energy, in other words, indicating to the horse that you're a safe place to be and that you know how to energetically care for yourself and not just push, push, push, push, push. Because if you are a horse and you're out there in the wild and all you did was push, push, push, push, push, and never actually took a chance to break and to restore and to renew that energy and collect the resources that allow you to keep going and keep fulfilling your purpose, you would end up dead. And so many of us are at risk of becoming sick or unhealthy or we're already unhealthy or on the verge of burnout because we're pushing and pushing and pushing and just trying to find new ways to hack our bodies so that we have more energy and we can do more and we can drink more coffee to have more artificial energy. Well, what if we thought about how we can actually shut it off so that we can allow ourselves to renew and recharge? So, as I've said, horses, what we can learn from them is that they instinctively and intuitively know that in order to be able to fulfill their purpose. And herds are filled with horses that know their purpose and fulfill their purpose on a daily basis to the best of their ability. But they also know how important it is to restore and renew so that they can wake up the next day and be able to fulfill their purpose not just for their self, but they understand that that's also what's best for the herd. If your herd is a company, if your herd is a family, if your herd is just you and the things that you care about and that you're passionate about, in order to be the best you possible, you also have to make sure that the energy that you are putting out is also being received, renewed, revitalized. And what are the things that allow you to be able to continue to fulfill your purpose? And what energy are you communicating to the world? Is it push, push, push, or is it a safe, attractive energy that's saying I know my purpose, I'm making this world a better place and I would love for you to be a part of my herd and help me make the world a better place. Don't forget that. My free gift to you in order to impact your energy and share it with your teams is this book how to Stay Sane During Insane Times which includes exercises that will help you take all of the information that I gave you in this video about your energy and put it to work in a way that won't make you feel like like it's one more thing on your plate but actually be able to organize everything on your to do list in a way that you feel like it's possible to accomplish and that you can fulfill your purpose. So stay safe, stay sane and continue to make a difference. All right, one more time. Should we try this? Let's try this. Five male.
