All right, difference makers. I just wanted to bring you a couple failure quotes. And what I want you to do is pick one. And you don't have to pick any.
Of the ones that I bring to.
You, but pick one and write it down. Put it in front of your computer. What we are working on is this idea of removing the fear around failure and accepting it and then making sure that each and every day that we are trying things that bring us closer to our purpose without this fear. Fear of failure. And I found some pretty good ones, but of course, if they don't resonate with you, then go ahead and find your own failure quote. But I'm going to share with you.
A couple of these.
This one I thought was great because it's kind of around failure, but it's also a little bit of just like an inspirational quote. It's Walter Anderson, and he says our lives improve only when we take chances. And the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves. And so sometimes a fear of failure will manifest itself in you trying to do all of the things and don't want to disappoint anybody. You don't want to fail anybody. And so that's one of the reasons that I loved that quote, is sometimes being honest with yourself is admitting that you're on the wrong path. And that doesn't necessarily mean that you're failing, but it means if you continue, it could have a much larger failure. So I'm going to bring up some more of these and I can see your comments if you want to comment. Let me know what your favorite failure quote is. Here's one by Thomas Edison. I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work.
Love that, right?
It's another way to look at it. But again, you can see even in that quote, it's an avoidance of owning the failure. And me being the retired therapist that I am, I think there's some psychological benefits to removing that fear of failure.
So Churchill says success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts. And I mean, that's so awesome. We had done the Facebook Live last week as well as wrote a couple blogs on the fact that failure is only temporary unless you accept and make it permanent. So I love this. It's Herbert Bayard Swoop. He says, I can't give you a surefire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure. Try to please everybody all the time. And that's kind of exactly what we talked about. And if you haven't read this book, this is from the Alchemist and it's an amazing book. It took me a while to get around to it, but. But after I read it, it was just awesome. There's only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve. The fear of failure. So if I think about that quote and analyze it, it's really the fact that the only thing that's going to guarantee that you don't accomplish it is that if you're scared of failing. So, yeah, I want to know. I'm looking. I wrote down a bunch of other ones. And so I'm happy to post some of those in the Difference Makers group. I'm happy to put some of them in the comments. Coco Chanel said, don't spend time beating on a wall hoping to transform it into a door. And I used to think that, you know, if I just tried hard enough, particularly with, like, a service animal, because I had this belief that any dog could be a service animal. And then we had a dog that had extreme fear of being in public. And she didn't fail as a service animal. Actually, she works with my mom now, using all of her skills to support my mom, who has some health stuff. But the fact that this failure ultimately helped my mom, it was just amazing. And so I could have continued to.
Try to make this dog into my perfect service animal.
But at the end of the day.
Those of you who know Guinness know that he's definitely my perfect answer service animal, with the exception of Goose, who.
Was my previous service animal.
And so when you have some kind of letdown or some kind of failure, look at these quotes. Put this quote up on your desk or up in your office somewhere or on your bathroom mirror so that you can kind of remove that fear of.
Failure and really just get into it and meditate. Whatever kind of headspace you need to create to kind of remove that fear and own the fact that each and every setback is getting you closer to your ultimate success. And sometimes the setbacks are actually there to protect us and not to hold us back. So that's what I have for you guys today.
