How to Use Content to Connect with your Clients

Bunny Young uses short personal videos to connect with clients. She features her daughter in a welcome-page video for her Defy program and recommends 30 to 60 second clips that show vulnerability and real-life context for welcome pages, client updates, and prospect screening.

Awesome. Hey, difference makers. I'm super excited because we are talking about how we can use video to connect better with your clients. So we had talked on another video in our Video Using Video series with an interview with Patrick McFadden who is just a marketing genius about using video and how to use it in your business. And he had some really great ideas. So if you missed that one, go ahead and go back and watch that video at another time. But I am going to use a little bit of that content to segue into this video's content, which is how to use video to connect with your clients. So I know most of you heard about copyright or copywriting, I should say. So the art is what it is of getting somebody to your site and the words that you use in order to convey the emotion and the pain points in order to convert them to being a client or to buy your product or whatever that may be. All of that is really awesome. But what's even better is being able to connect with them in person. And video can feel like that. So you can describe the pain points and people can see the passion and the emotion and that you genuinely care. So there's a lot of things with video that we could discuss. But for my own Defy program, and if you don't know about Defy, it's on the website, but it's a work life alignment program for entrepreneurs and it's broken up just in a 30 day session. But with my Defy program, it's for entrepreneurs and sometimes it's really hard to get entrepreneurs to identify that this is going to be a solution for them, let alone invest in themselves. When you're starting a business and running a business, there's so many different things that are pulling your attention that need your attention, that need investment from you. And so the fact that being able to identify that this program is going to help you run a better business and not have the business run you is something that I wanted convey. But I really wanted people to know that we're joining the program and that we're trusting, putting their trust in me and putting in trust in the program that I'm right there with you in the trenches. And so when I made the video for Defy, I thought what better way than to include my daughter in it? And so that's the actual video that is up on our welcome page. We have a video that I talk about my struggles and I talk about my other little daughter is in that video right on our homepage. But this is the video that we use with our welcome page. And you can see that I'm in the thick with everybody else. And I think it's a really good way not just to connect with your audience, but also convey some of the pain points in an authentic manner. I'm all about authenticity, and I think that it's great when you can show somebody that you're walking the walk rather than just talking the talk. So, like I said, when you go to a betterplace consulting.com or bunnyyoung.com There's a video right there that talks about, you know, having too much on your plat, running several companies while having a family. And so when you go to bunnyyoung.com this is the first thing that you see is a video there of me talking. And it's great because when you become a starfish, and for those of you in the difference makers, I get to join you through video. So it's a great way that clients and future clients can understand that I'm here, I'm a real person, and I'm delivering this message myself. You can see the passion that I have, the energy that I deliver it with, and it establishes an expectation for how the content is going to be delivered. I record a ton of videos and send them to clients or send them to my team members so that they know stuff that I'm thinking about. Rather than typing out a full email and asking if that makes sense, I can just jump right on the video and deliver it to a client, let them know that I'm thinking about them, let them know some brainstorming ideas that I had, and just send that right out there. And then for prospects, it allows them to really quickly know if this is my person or my kind of person or not, is this my kind of program or not? And also create some relationship already with somebody that I haven't yet had the opportunity to hop on a call and build a relationship with and be able to say, look, I'm here with you. Here's my daughter. Here's my reason for creating this program. And if you, like me, are a parent or taking care of your parents, you know, being able to know that you can run a company and successfully contribute to your family and take care of yourself all in one, is a message that really conveys better when I can authentically tell you that rather than just putting bullet points together. Now do we have bullet points? Yes. But those bullet points were based off of the stuff that I was talking about, so I didn't have to get it on my head, get it out of my head, type it all down, send it to an editor who then would edit, make sure it was grammatically correct, and then send it to a copywriter that would make sure that it's going to resonate with the message, and then send it to the web person, upload to the website. I just cut everything out and just delivered a video. As long as I didn't cuss, they let me put it up on the website. And it hopefully lets you know that I'm here, I care about you, and also a little bit of my personality and a little bit about me and a little bit of vulnerability, but a whole lot of authenticity. So that's how I use video to connect with clients. And I'd recommend that if you have something that you are struggling to convey through words or through social media ads or through graphics, that you hop on and just create a short video, less than a minute, maybe 30 seconds, that just says, look, here's why I made this program. Here's who I hope it helps, or here's how I created this service or created this product, whatever it is, here's who I hope it helps. And then share it in the populations and in the community where those people gather. That's what I have for you today. Thank you for making the world a better place. I hope that you check out some more videos. If you're on YouTube, subscribe to this channel. If you're on Facebook, thank you for being a part of the Difference Makers group. And thank you, as I said, for making the world a better place. And I'll talk to you soon. Bye now.
