Let it Go Be your Best Self (Starting Right Now!)

A short YouTube coaching/skit by Bunny Young using a role-play with Disney’s Elsa to teach emotional letting go. Bunny normalizes feelings, offers concrete practices (label emotions, distinguish healthy letting go from avoidance, visualize emotions as balloons), and uses humor and metaphors to make the guidance accessible; the piece mixes direct advice with playful dialogue.

So I hear what you're saying, and what I'm expressing to you is all of these things that you're talking about and that you're feeling, all of those feelings are valid. And I'm not saying that by any way, shape or form, you shouldn't be feeling those, especially with environmental election stress and everything that's going on. But the healthiest thing that you can do right now is to just let it go. Did someone say let it go? Yeah, but I was talking to my client. Well, you know, I do have a little bit of experience at letting it go. I hear you. And it's not that I don't appreciate the help, but I'm really working with this client right now and trying to be intentional. Cause the client's here right now. Well, so am I. And here I stand. And here I'll stay. Stop, stop, stop. I know, I know. I have two daughters. So. So, please, I know exactly where you're going. So I'm gonna have to call you back. There's Disney Princess Queen here, so I'll explain that one later. Your Highness, please take a seat. Oh, how kind of you. Is this throne all right? Right here? And what an adorable reindeer you have. Do you know, Sven? It's not a reindeer. He's. He's. He's a dog. He's. He's my. He's a Great Dane. He's my dog. He's not a reindeer. Oh, my. Are you cold? I apologize. I hardly notice it anymore. However, the cold never really bothered me anyway. Well, the cold bothers me. So if you don't mind, I'm gonna put my jacket on. So I imagine that you want me to share with you all about the magic of letting it go. Letting go is not really magic, Elsa. I know. I wrote a song about it. I made a snowman. I built a castle. Oh, okay, fine. Alright. Well, let's put it this way then. You're not the only one who can do magic. All right? You're magical, too. How wonderful. In fact, everybody can do the magic of letting it go. And it's one of the most magical things that we can do for each other. So, for example, one of the first things you can do to let it go is to label it. One of the second things that you can do to let it go and help increase your mental well being is to subscribe to this channel. And another thing that you can do to let it go is to identify when you're actually letting it go versus just running away. So I'm saying This in the most non confrontational manner, because I do not want to disrespect you, your highness. However, one could argue that you going and building your beautiful ice castle in the mountains far, far away from your kingdom was not actually letting anything go, but rather running away from your power and running away from your obligations and running away from an awareness of. Of what the real source of your discomfort was. And only when we lean into that and really create the space by actually letting go of whatever emotions we're trapped with, can we really figure out what our true power is. And we don't actually really need a magic wand for that. That's something that you can do right now. That makes sense. Hmm. I suppose so. But what about that beautiful castle that I created? Yes, it was an incredibly beautiful castle. However, if we direct that energy towards actually leaning into your power and that, and I don't mean power in the magical way, I mean power in the releasing of your fear of all of those emotions that you have or had and really leaned into being your whole self, you saw what could happen. And the fact that it's not just horrible things that happen. When we truly do let go and lean into our whole purpose, we can melt a frozen heart and a bunch of other things for those of us that don't have icicle fingers. So the visualization that I want you to have for the next time that you feel like running away, or the next time you really want to harness letting it go, not breaking into song, although if that helps you with your energy, then by all means, I encourage that. But the visualization is your relationship with your sister is like a balloon and you're having to take care of the kingdom and becoming queen and being afraid of the powers that you have. Those are all like really, really full balloons, and you're holding on to them and basically you ran up into the mountains and away from everything holding on to those balloon. And for the average individual, we have so many of these balloons that we're just trying to hold on to and not let go of and just stuffing down and down and down, and then we end up either popping the balloon or we end up letting the emotion out when we didn't really want to at maybe not the most opportune time. But if every time we have one of these balloons come up, we can actually, in a healthy manner, handle that emotion, deal with that emotion and truly let it go, then it's beautiful. And as long as we're doing it in an environmentally conscious way, so that doesn't hurt any sea animals or the balloon doesn't destroy the environment. That's my little side note. But imagine seeing that emotion, that fear, that obstacle actually floating away. How does that feel, Elsa? Well, that feels absolutely wonderful. Like the most beautiful snowflake. Or riding your ice horse off into the horizon. Wonderful. So now, with all due respect, can I please ask you to leave my office so that I can go back to the client call that I was on prior to you coming in for a little bit of a visit? Oh, you want me to leave? Yeah, that way. Out that door. Okay, I'll just head this way. Off into the unknown. Of course she had to say that. And take care of that adorable reindeer. He's not a reindeer. I need a warm hug. Okay, well, maybe he doesn't make that bad of a reindeer after all.
