Peek behind the curtain and check out my business plan for 2021 (that took me less than an hour!)

Bunny Young walks through a three-step business plan: review what worked last year, pick one intention for the year ahead, then schedule it into your calendar. The whole thing takes less than an hour and focuses on impact instead of revenue targets.

When you start thinking about planning for the next year, I know it can feel kind of overwhelming. So I thought, rather than tell you what I do, I would show you what I do. And what if I told you that it is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Want to see? Let's go. So I'm actually going to walk you right into my office. Oh, you're hearing that noise. That's because I have a boot on my foot. I dropped the vacuum on it. Here we are. That nice light. So let's get to work. Now, I said let's get started. And I'm literally going to break it down for you in step by step. And by step by step, I meant what I said. 1, 2, 3. There's only three steps to my planning out my entire year, and I'm going to do it with you in less than 10 minutes. So grab a pen, grab a piece of paper, your calendar. Those are the three things that you are going to need. And we're going to get the whole year planned out. So here we go. So the first thing that I want you to do when you have your calendar and you have your piece of paper or you have your notebook, whatever you want to use. But sometimes a notebook is a little bit easier. Like I have this notebook from this year because it helps me keep everything in one place. I want you to look at your 2020 and ask yourself, right, right at the top of the paper, right? What worked? Who worked? So these are two simple questions. They don't have to be full sentences. I know some of you that are big into grammar, like money. That doesn't even make sense. But it's just to cue you on what worked and who worked. And what I mean by that is who you spent your time with and what you spent your time doing and the return on investment. And this doesn't always have to be mon, but just go back through your calendar and figure out, basically, what we're looking for is what you want to bring into the new year and do more of and what you want to not bring into the new year and repeat again and again. Because if you do the same things that you did this year, you're going to get the same results. And some of you are like, well, hold on, 2020 was a little bit different. I totally get it. But chances are the same themes of the things that you did, whether you did them remotely or whether you did them virt or whether you did them in some safe manner in person, they're still the same things. Focusing on relationships in fact, 2020 has probably meant that you have spent less time with fewer people. And if you manage to get results, then that could be a good sign of where you could cut back on saying yes to the things that really aren't moving the needle for you and saying yes to more things that will move the needle for you and have more time for family and more time for yourself, which is the point. So number one is a quick review. It doesn't have to be super in depth. I aim to fill one sheet of paper with what worked and what didn't just by looking through my Google Calendar. That's the calendar that I use. And so I'll just flip through my Google Calendar and see what meetings, what kind of habits worked for me, whether it's from workouts or whether it's how often I took a vacation, all of those kinds of things. What worked, what didn't, who worked, who didn't. And then we're gonna go into number two, so you can pause the video and do that. Set a timer for just, like, three minutes, or let's just keep going. So I'm gonna give you number two. All right? So number two is intention and framework. New sheet of paper. Look it so pretty and fresh in your journal. You are going to pick one word or one phrase for 2021, and you're going to write that at the top of your paper. That's going to be your intention. And then within that framework, this is what you want to get done in 2021. And timeout. Don't start with numbers. So many people, so often, so many clients will say, here's how much money I want to make. The money doesn't matter. The impact does. If you provide value, the money will follow. And trust me, it sounds. If you haven't done it yet, it may sound like it doesn't work. If you have done it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. When you show up and you provide your highest level of value and you're not focused on the money, but you're focused on the impact. Somehow, some way, the money just flows in. And when you're talking to just your people and you're reaching them with your message, then it doesn't even. It's like you have a license to print money. So don't start with the money goal. We can get there eventually. But this intention is the difference. The impact, the purpose that you have for 2021. Why are you here for 2021? What is it that you're going to accomplish in 2021, so intention mindset framework. That is number two. So go ahead and take a couple minutes again, you can pause the video if you want and fill up that paper with your intention. What you want to get done in 2021, what you want to launch, all of those kinds of things. How many launches you want to do, how many vacations you want to take, where you want to go. Be as specific. Fill that paper up. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. And then we'll roll right into number three, because as promised, it's gonna take me less than 10 minutes to get you your entire year planned. And then next year, you can just replay this video and we'll do it all over again together. All right, number three is simple math. This is the mind blowing, most simple thing ever. However, seriously, Game changer. Just like game changer. So lean in, turn the volume up a little bit louder and be like, all right, Bunny, give it to me. Here it is, your calendar. Number three simply is taking number one plus number two and putting it into your calendar, which is number three. Identify what worked and what didn't and who worked and who didn't. Identify what you want your intention for 2021 to be. And once you have those super, super clear, start with yourself and those that you love in your calendar, whether it's waking up and being able to be at the gym at 6am Take Fridays off, whatever it is, start scheduling it right now. Dump all of the goodness in your calendar, and then figure out the who and the what worked and focus on sprinkling that. It's like a recipe, right? So we're gonna take what tasted really good and what made 2020 survivable and great and yummy. And then we're gonna go 2021, here's how we can improve the recipe. And we're going to sprinkle in some more of that what worked and who worked. And we're going to start with those core ingredients that we know are tried and true and proven. And then we're going to say, here's how we want to make it better. Here's what we're going to do to make it better. And then we're going to put it in the oven for 12 months, give or take. And what we're going to pull out is success. That's what we are. Baking or cooking, whatever you want to say. And if you're like, I'm not that great of a cook, neither am I. But I'm telling you that this recipe has worked. For me so many times. And by being able to have this big picture in our course in Defy, I'd break it down into how to do it, then take it further and go into your quarters and your weeks and how you can literally wake up every single day knowing exactly what you're going to do and not just be a complete and total slave to your calendar, but actually get the habits to success. Like, if you think about it, we're programmed, if you're a TV fan, to watch. I know we all DVR it now, but to watch certain shows at certain times, these are habits. You have habits of brushing your teeth. And so by using this recipe of knowing what works in intentionally using those ingredients to build your 2021, and then having the accountability framework of your calendar, which we, most of us, if not all of us, use to tell us how to spend our time. And then if you want to add in the accountability, that's just like, to another level, if you want to share it, post it publicly, hire a coach, have a mentor, have a mastermind group. Like, that's just the people who can sit at your table and enjoy that success cake and say, yes or say, you know what, too much salt. We need to change this and let's reformulate before the end of the year so that we don't end up with another crappy year cake. I don't know if this analogy is working. Let me know in the comments and be like, I don't know, Bunny. Like, meh, I'm not really eaten this cake. Or if you're like, I love the cake, I can have my cake and eat it too. Which you can if you use the 1, 2 and 3. And sprinkle in a little bit of that accountability on top. I promise you. Because it's the same thing that I use. It's the same thing that we use in Defy, which I put so many clients and had the opportunity to coach so many clients through Defy, which is our small group coaching. And this is the same playbook that they use and they go to. And it's so simple. It's such a simple framework. But by being able to just have it be that simple, it means that you don't give up, you're not overwhelmed, you don't have this gigantic thing that you feel like you don't even know where to start with. You have your 1, 2, and 3 to start with, and you have no excuse not to start because your year is going to taste so yummy. And I want to know if you did and you played along. Pause the video, filled up your journal. I want to see pictures of it. So send them to me on Instagram @bunnyhas6legs DM me and I would love to see them. Leave me a note in the comments below and let me know what you got out of this video. And one thing, what's your one feeling for 2021? That's what I want to know out of this video. What's your one feeling out of 2021? And how do you think your cake is going to taste? Because I think it's going to be absolutely mind blowing and wonderful and I just want to thank you for making the world a better place. I know 2020 has been a little bit of a CF as recipes go for the year and there's a lot of things that we can and we cannot control. However, we always have the ability to take a step back and it's our life and say here's what worked and here's what didn't. And I'll give you a perfect example. So if in 2020 you're one of those individuals where your small business absolutely tanked or you happen to lose your job, you don't have control over that happening. However, you do have control over what you do the next day. Day. Don't let yesterday impact tomorrow. So being able to say yes, that happened, but it happened for you. What if we switched our mindset? And here's the quote that you can maybe write down, 2020 happened for you, not to you. And with that mindset, what's possible for 2021 if 2021 is also happening for you? So here's your last couple pieces of homework and if you're like, oh my gosh, it's so much, I put the link for your free downloads if you want to get started on some of the sheets that I use in the links below. And if you're feeling super overwhelmed, I also put a special link in there for a free ebook on sanity. It's less than 30 pages. It's got a bunch of funny videos in it of me in my house doing the exact same things that I'm sharing with you on how I keep myself sane, families in it, toes in the grass. It's going to be amazing to go through it with you if you decide to download it, which I hope that you do. And I'm also, like I said, including some of the guides. So you know where to get started. You know exactly where to get started. It's right down there. And let me know Like I said on Instagram, if send me a picture of your sheets of paper and I'm happy to engage and look over them and all of those kinds of things, maybe you can start with a feeling like, what in 12 months from now do I want to wake up and have my business and my life and my family and me look like? What do I want it to look like? Because if you had told me 12 months ago that I was going to be waking up today to be filming a YouTube video for you guys on how to plan your year in this awesome red headband, I'd be like, what? I'm gonna have a YouTube video. I'm gonna have a YouTube channel. You guys are gonna be watching it. That's unbelievable. But by being intentional and saying, here, I want. I know that I want to wake up and I want to have my message out there, and I want to reach more people, and I can only work one on one in small groups with so many people. So I want to create a place, platform and be a part of a movement where I can get my message out to more people. And then YouTube just showed up one day in my email. I found this amazing course and these amazing teachers, and they were like, hey, we want to help you make a YouTube channel. And I was like, okay, and here we are. So start with that feeling of what you want 2021 to feel like and what you want to wake up 12 months from now and have accomplished, or what does it look like and that can help. Start filling up that sheet of paper with all the other great stuff and your last piece of homework, and I'll give you the gift of the entrepreneurial lifesavers down in the links below. But your last piece of homework is to take the link for this video, copy it, paste it 12 months from now so that you and I can do this again at the end of 2021. Thank you guys again for making the world a better place. Thank you for making a difference. And I'll see you in the next video. And now we have clean desk and a happy.
