The BEST unexpected and meaningful gifts of 2020 (You do not want to miss!)

Bunny Young (Power of Purpose Channel) presents a short, personal vlog recommending three meaningful 'gifts' or practices from 2020 to improve work-life alignment: (1) blue light blocking glasses to reduce headaches and improve sleep, (2) noise-cancelling headphones to maintain focus and support meditation, and (3) a family-invented "Tech Free Saturday" — a full day without phones to encourage presence with self and family. The video mixes product/accessory tips with a lived example and ends with a viewer challenge and invitation to comment.

So welcome back to the Power of Purpose Channel. I hope that you have had a chance to drop me a comment and let me know what videos are your favorite and what topics are your favorite and what topics you need in order to make your next year a success and things that I can do to help you. This channel is to help you individuals with their work life alignment and to be able to have a family and a business and growth in both of those areas. So if that's you, hit the subscribe button. If that's not you, then peace. It was nice having you on this channel, but I wanted to share with you a couple of things that have been an absolute gift to me out of this year. So in a year where technology has kind of invaded our homes and it's even more prominent because most of us are doing virtual learning or virtual work, remote work, remote learning, all of those kinds of things, there's a couple things that have made my life absolutely awesome and they're quick. So I'm going to take very much of your time to share with you and then I'd also encourage you to drop in the comments the things that have made an impact in, in your life. And let's just exchange tips. Let's make this more of a conversation rather than a video. So number one is I have upgraded my eyewear and gotten these blue blockers which I know a lot of people are talking about, but I have to tell you, not only does it make fashion, not when there's a light and a computer screen here, but not only does it make a fashionable compliment that I've gotten on these, but but it also really helps when you have to be on technology with headaches and being able to get to sleep at night. So that's definitely my tip number one. So my tip number two and I will put all of these links in the description below are noise canceling headphones. So since I am sharing my office space both at home and at my real office space, these noise canceling headphones are magical because they allow me to remain focused and they allow me to cut out all of the noise and all of the distractions. And they're really great for my daily meditation too. So it doesn't matter what kind you get. But these are definitely my favorite. So I am a huge fan of those. So my last and final tip is coming from my daughter. If you have missed me on social media or if you have, I'm getting stared at right now. He's we're disturbing his sleep. So shh. Try to Keep down. But if you have missed me on social media or if you saw my social media dilemma, the film review way before that film came out, there was another social media critic and cell phone critic in our household, my oldest daughter. And one of the things that we brainstormed is having cell phone Free Saturday. This has been one of the greatest gifts of this year is being able to have cell phone Free Saturday. And my daughter looks forward to it. I look forward to it because it's an entire day with the permission to not be on your cell phone, not be responsive to anybody, but just be fully focused on your self care and on your kiddos and your family. And so whether you have children or whether it's just you and your dog or just you and a goldfish or just you being able to give yourself the gift of being fully present with just yourself and responsive to just the things that mean the most to you and are the biggest priority for you. It's amazing. We have a DVD player in our car and so on a road trip, as soon as those butts hit the seat, the first thing we hear is can I watch a movie? And to be able to say just look outside the windows is the equivalent of our cell phone Free Saturday. It's kind of just encouraging an adult to just look outside the windows and not be, you know, not miss out because I'm watching a movie while we're on this road trip and not able to see the scenery. That's. What are we missing as we're staring at our screens? I know as a therapist that I used to talk to clients about the fact that they're so busy filming the perfect soccer shot that they actually miss out on the game and so being able to. And then posting it. So being able to be present and just give yourself that gift of not having to be attached to this technological device for one day. Tech Free Saturday. Can you do it? That's my challenge for you. I want you to let me know in the comments if you are committed to doing a Tech Free Saturday, if you have some variation of a Tech Free Saturday in your life already, and if you have tried it in the past, any tips on making it even more successful that you can share with us. So those are my biggest gifts for you from this year. And I can't wait to read all of your comments and see what gifts you have to share and have gleaned from this year. So thank you for making this year amazing. Thank you for making the world a better place. Thank you for making a difference and I look forward to seeing you in the next video. Bye.
